words to use in an essay

It’s not easy to write an academic essay.

Many students struggle to word their arguments in a logical and concise way.

To make matters worse, academic essays need to adhere to a certain level of formality, so we can’t always use the same word choices in essay writing that we would use in daily life.

If you’re struggling to choose the right words for your essay, don’t worry—you’ve come to the right place!

In this article, we’ve compiled a list of over 300 words and phrases to use in the introduction, body, and conclusion of your essay.

Words to Use in the Essay Introduction

Words to use in the body of the essay, words to use in your essay conclusion, how to improve your essay writing vocabulary.

The introduction is one of the hardest parts of an essay to write.

You have only one chance to make a first impression, and you want to hook your reader. If the introduction isn’t effective, the reader might not even bother to read the rest of the essay.

That’s why it’s important to be thoughtful and deliberate with the words you choose at the beginning of your essay.

Many students use a quote in the introductory paragraph to establish credibility and set the tone for the rest of the essay.

When you’re referencing another author or speaker, try using some of these phrases:

Example: To use the words of Hillary Clinton, “You cannot have maternal health without reproductive health.”

Near the end of the introduction, you should state the thesis to explain the central point of your paper.

If you’re not sure how to introduce your thesis, try using some of these phrases:

Phrases to introduce a thesis

Example: In this essay, I will explain why dress codes in public schools are detrimental to students.

After you’ve stated your thesis, it’s time to start presenting the arguments you’ll use to back up that central idea.

When you’re introducing the first of a series of arguments, you can use the following words:

Example: First , consider the effects that this new social security policy would have on low-income taxpayers.

All these words and phrases will help you create a more successful introduction and convince your audience to read on.

The body of your essay is where you’ll explain your core arguments and present your evidence.

It’s important to choose words and phrases for the body of your essay that will help the reader understand your position and convince them you’ve done your research.

Let’s look at some different types of words and phrases that you can use in the body of your essay, as well as some examples of what these words look like in a sentence.

Transition Words and Phrases

Transitioning from one argument to another is crucial for a good essay.

It’s important to guide your reader from one idea to the next so they don’t get lost or feel like you’re jumping around at random.

Transition phrases and linking words show your reader you’re about to move from one argument to the next, smoothing out their reading experience. They also make your writing look more professional.

The simplest transition involves moving from one idea to a separate one that supports the same overall argument. Try using these phrases when you want to introduce a second correlating idea:

Example: Additionally , public parks increase property value because home buyers prefer houses that are located close to green, open spaces.

Another type of transition involves restating. It’s often useful to restate complex ideas in simpler terms to help the reader digest them. When you’re restating an idea, you can use the following words:

Example: “The research showed that 53% of students surveyed expressed a mild or strong preference for more on-campus housing. In other words , over half the students wanted more dormitory options.”

Often, you’ll need to provide examples to illustrate your point more clearly for the reader. When you’re about to give an example of something you just said, you can use the following words:

Example: Humans have long tried to exert control over our natural environment. For instance , engineers reversed the Chicago River in 1900, causing it to permanently flow backward.

Sometimes, you’ll need to explain the impact or consequence of something you’ve just said.

When you’re drawing a conclusion from evidence you’ve presented, try using the following words:

Example: “There wasn’t enough government funding to support the rest of the physics experiment. Thus , the team was forced to shut down their experiment in 1996.”

Phrases to draw conclusions

When introducing an idea that bolsters one you’ve already stated, or adds another important aspect to that same argument, you can use the following words:

Example: The volcanic eruption disrupted hundreds of thousands of people. Moreover , it impacted the local flora and fauna as well, causing nearly a hundred species to go extinct.

Often, you'll want to present two sides of the same argument. When you need to compare and contrast ideas, you can use the following words:

Example: On the one hand , the Black Death was undoubtedly a tragedy because it killed millions of Europeans. On the other hand , it created better living conditions for the peasants who survived.

Finally, when you’re introducing a new angle that contradicts your previous idea, you can use the following phrases:

Example: Shakespearean plays are classic works of literature that have stood the test of time. Having said that , I would argue that Shakespeare isn’t the most accessible form of literature to teach students in the twenty-first century.

Good essays include multiple types of logic. You can use a combination of the transitions above to create a strong, clear structure throughout the body of your essay.

Strong Verbs for Academic Writing

Verbs are especially important for writing clear essays. Often, you can convey a nuanced meaning simply by choosing the right verb.

You should use strong verbs that are precise and dynamic. Whenever possible, you should use an unambiguous verb, rather than a generic verb.

For example, alter and fluctuate are stronger verbs than change , because they give the reader more descriptive detail.

Here are some useful verbs that will help make your essay shine.

Verbs that show change:

Verbs that relate to causing or impacting something:

Verbs that show increase:

Verbs that show decrease:

Verbs that relate to parts of a whole:

Incorporates

Verbs that show a negative stance:

Verbs that show a negative stance

Verbs that show a positive stance:

Verbs that relate to drawing conclusions from evidence:

Verbs that relate to thinking and analysis:

Verbs that relate to showing information in a visual format:

Useful Adjectives and Adverbs for Academic Essays

You should use adjectives and adverbs more sparingly than verbs when writing essays, since they sometimes add unnecessary fluff to sentences.

However, choosing the right adjectives and adverbs can help add detail and sophistication to your essay.

Sometimes you'll need to use an adjective to show that a finding or argument is useful and should be taken seriously. Here are some adjectives that create positive emphasis:

Other times, you'll need to use an adjective to show that a finding or argument is harmful or ineffective. Here are some adjectives that create a negative emphasis:

Finally, you might need to use an adverb to lend nuance to a sentence, or to express a specific degree of certainty. Here are some examples of adverbs that are often used in essays:

Using these words will help you successfully convey the key points you want to express. Once you’ve nailed the body of your essay, it’s time to move on to the conclusion.

The conclusion of your paper is important for synthesizing the arguments you’ve laid out and restating your thesis.

In your concluding paragraph, try using some of these essay words:

Example: In conclusion , it’s imperative that we take action to address climate change before we lose our coral reefs forever.

In addition to simply summarizing the key points from the body of your essay, you should also add some final takeaways. Give the reader your final opinion and a bit of a food for thought.

To place emphasis on a certain point or a key fact, use these essay words:

Example: Ada Lovelace is unquestionably a powerful role model for young girls around the world, and more of our public school curricula should include her as a historical figure.

These concluding phrases will help you finish writing your essay in a strong, confident way.

There are many useful essay words out there that we didn't include in this article, because they are specific to certain topics.

If you're writing about biology, for example, you will need to use different terminology than if you're writing about literature.

So how do you improve your vocabulary skills?

The vocabulary you use in your academic writing is a toolkit you can build up over time, as long as you take the time to learn new words.

One way to increase your vocabulary is by looking up words you don’t know when you’re reading.

Try reading more books and academic articles in the field you’re writing about and jotting down all the new words you find. You can use these words to bolster your own essays.

You can also consult a dictionary or a thesaurus. When you’re using a word you’re not confident about, researching its meaning and common synonyms can help you make sure it belongs in your essay.

Don't be afraid of using simpler words. Good essay writing boils down to choosing the best word to convey what you need to say, not the fanciest word possible.

My Six Word Memoir

91 word essay

Show More For my six word memoir is put "I'm in high-school, still very uninterested". It is pretty self explanatory I say that I am in high school which, I am and that I am uninterested to which I am as well due to me not being interested in anything in high school. I say this because I'm in high school and not much has happened in my life, yet so I don't have much to say. I'm also uninterested and that nothing so far in high school or life as interested

actually turned out to be really difficult? Well, if you did, then you must've felt similar to the way I did when I raised a baby kitten on my own, a couple months back in July of 2015. During the first week, it was very hard, similar to a newborn baby. She woke up at night, I had to bottle-feed her, and I was so exhausted…

Article 86 – Absence without leave is described as “any member of the armed force who, without authority – fails to go to his/her appointed place of duty at the prescribed time, goes from that place; or absents themselves or remains absent from their unit, organization, or place of duty at which he/she is required to be at the time prescribed; shall be punished as a court-martial may direct.” The first element in the description, “failure to go to appointed place of duty” is what you may also refer to as “out of ranks”. It means you had a certain time and place of duty. You must have known what your time and place of duty was. And that you, without authorization, failed to be at the appointed place of duty at the time prescribed. The next element is “going from your appointed place of duty”. This is simply arriving at your place of duty and then leaving without authorization. The third element, “absence from unit, organization, or place of duty”, is a mixture of elements one and two. Although I have not found any information on the minimum punishments, I do have a list of the maximum punishments.…

lying to an nco

Lying to a non commissioned officer can be punished by UCMJ action due to the following reasons. Article 91: Insubordinate conduct toward a non-commissioned officer (you failed to obey the order in this case the order to contact SGT Henshaw before leaving post and who I was going with) , punished by 1 year confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances (willfully disobeying an NCO's order). Article 92: Failure to Obey a Lawful Order (Sgt Henshaw ordered me to tell the truth, and I didn't), punished by dishonorable discharge, 2 years confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances (if the situation involved a general order). BCD 6 month confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances (for the failure to tell the NCO the truth). Article 107: False Official Statements (told a lie when asked of my whereabouts), punished by 5 years confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances . Article 134: Disloyal Statements (prejudicial to the good order and discipline), punished by 3 years confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances (statements needed). Article 134: False Swearing (you took an oath and then lied), punished by Dishonorable Discharge, 3 year confinement, forfeiture of all pay and allowances. Article 134: Obstructing Justice (you lied to hide wrongdoing), punished by Dishonorable Discharge,…

Code Of Conduct In The Military

A Code of Conduct as described by Collins (2012) defines ones behaviors in relation to given situations. For the military, the Code of Conduct was established as a result of the gruesome conditions that prisoners of war were faced with during the Korean War. The standards outlined in the Code of Conduct were the standards developed to guide Soldiers while in combat or captivity and were issued in an executive order on August 17th 1955. These same standards of conduct have been revised only twice. The first revision was to clarify the meaning of certain words and the second was to change the Code of Conduct to reflect a gender-neutral standard. A Code of Ethics is guiding principles that are established to remind us that in various situations, this is who we should strive to be (Collins, 2012). No different than any other profession, the Army has established values that are to serve as guiding principles for the Soldiers that have sworn to defend the US Constitution. These seven values are loyalty, duty, respect, selfless-service, honor, integrity, and personal courage and serve to guide Soldiers actions in everyday decisions/problem solving situations. The Army has placed a renewed emphasis on ethical decision making and with the establishment of the Center for the Army Profession and Ethic (CAPE) in 2010 has shown a commitment to change the cultural mindset of an Army that has been at war for over 14 years. Along with the Army Values, goes the Warrior Ethos: (I will always place the mission first; I will never accept defeat; I will never quit; I will never leave a fallen comrade) four guiding principles that Soldiers understand violating will have strategic implications on the overall success or failure of the…

Lt Mcclane: Case Study

In accordance with AFI 51-202 a Nonjudicial Punishment can only be imposed on an officer by a Colonel or higher. So for Lt McClane this decision must be pushed up to the Wing Commander, with your recommendations. The maximum punishment that the Wing Commander can impose is an LOR and thirty das restriction. If this is the course of action that is chosen, Lt McClane must be informed in writing of his NJP. He must be giving the opportunity to read it and sign it. Open being given notice of the NJP, he is allowed 3 working days to respond to the NJP, and he can seek counsel. If Lt McClane refuses to sign NJP, this issue can then be taken to a Court Material. Lt McClane should be offered this NJP with twenty-one days of the discovery of this offense, and the NJP should be started within eighteen days of it being offered. If the NJP is accepted it must be filed in an Unfavorable Information File for two years, per AFI 36-2907. Both the Article 15, UCMJ and LOR must be filed for two years.…

It is very important to respond to Non Commission Officers because they are the back bone of the marine corps and there would be no marine corps if it wasnt for the non comission officers. I have been tought everything i know about the marine corps from ncos . Also ncos have the hardest jobs in the marine corps ,like being a drill instructor or a squad leader. They also have to be the best leaders and the most inform about any situation. Most of the time ncos know more than officers do. Marine corps Non-Commissioned Officers have tales of their combat experiences have become the stuff of legends. NCOs are the Corporals and Sergeants responsible for the lives of their men in combat. Also they must be leaders of men, but also much more. They carry with them the traditions of duty and dedication to their mission. There is a creed that every NCO lives by. the creed is" I am an NCO dedicated to training new Marines and influencing the old. I am forever conscious of each Marine under my charge, and by example will inspire him to the highest standards possible. I will strive to be patient, understanding, just, and firm. I will commend the deserving and encourage the wayward. I will never forget that I am responsible to my Commanding Officer for the morale, discipline, and efficiency of my men. Their performance will reflect an image of me. " this creed is very important ,its how th marine corps is ran because the marine corps is pracrtically ran by these ncos. Ncos have also been responsible for victoys in many major battles. Tradition holds that in the Battle of Chapultepec in 1847, Marine NCOs sustained an unusually high casualty rate during this battle. In 1849, uniform regulations dictated that the stripes be changed to a solid red. Ten years later, a red cord was inserted into the outer seams for non commissioned officers and in 1904, the simple red stripe seen today was adopted. The marine corps uniforms would not be the same if it wasnt for the Non…

Importance of Article 92

The military’s form of law is known as the Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ). The UCMJ officially began May 31, 1951. It was signed into existence by President Truman. Congress deemed it necessary to create the UCMJ due to the lack of transparency and fairness previously provides to the military populous during WWII. The UCMJ allows for personal jurisdiction over all members of the uniformed services of the United States: the Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marine Corps, Navy, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps, and Public Health Service Commissioned Corps. Members of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Commissioned Corps and PHS are only subject to the UCMJ when attached to a military unit or when they are militarized by the president. Article 92, a sub section of the UCMJ, is intended to establish set precedents of punishment and examples of the crime of failing to obey an order or regulation. This Article is very important and is the fundamental backbone of all the military stands for. Being a member of the military is a very important job. Each and every man and woman has an important job to do which assist the forward progress of our country. As great as we would like to every person is not every service member does the correct thing. Due to the fact that we have an all volunteer army it goes without saying that the military is a realistic sample of all American has to offer, good and bad. And there are soldiers and service members who if not given a clear set of rules and punishment s would not be productive members of the military. Article 92 is part of the very important checks and balances implemented by the government to help keep the military efficient in spite of this. If you read into what Article 92 covers you’ll see that it provides multiple negative stimuli to the act of disobeying an order. This negative…

Modern Nco: Maintaining a Marine's Heritage

Honor guides the Marines to exemplify the ultimate in ethical and moral behavior, and to respect others as well as themselves. In the Marine Corps, practically every custom, both written and unwritten, has stemmed from the conduct of past Marines. It is only appropriate that our Marines today recognize this and dutifully portray this in their everyday as well as in combat. On every battlefield that our country has been on since the founding of the Corps, Marines have been there to defeat all enemies, both foreign and domestic. Within these battlefields, there have been NCOs that have fought, led, and died in combat—to complete their mission and to protect their fellow Marines fighting alongside them. An NCO must always keep in mind mission accomplishment and the welfare of their men and woman. This needs to be displayed in the workplace as well. It is the responsibility of NCOs to make sure that their junior marines know what it is to honorably be “a Marine”. This means that their conduct as a Marine is to be carried on to an NCOs civilian side as well.…

Why Disrespect Will Not Be Tolerated in the Army

I am to do this essay and that is to show that disrespecting a non commissioned officer will not be tolerated and two give clear understanding of the impact that disrespecting a Non Commissioned officer has on others. For many reasons the Non Commissioned Officers keep the moral up and motivate soldiers and encourage them to do their very best and showing disrespect to the NCO’s not only lowers moral, it also makes it to where the NCO thinks less of the person and lowers the person’s creditability. There is a possibility of Uniform Code of Military Justice (UCMJ) actions taken against the soldier. With the UCMJ the soldier could lose rank, lose pay, have to pull extra duty, getting discharged, or even getting jail time depending on how bad or sever the violation is. It could also cause the soldier not to have a chance to exceed or grow as a soldier or a leader such as go to schools, warrior leader’s course, or even the promotion…

91 word essay

1000-word essays aren’t hard. A student can write one in a day.

All it takes is a solid topic and some planning. Cook up three sources, organize them in a 5-paragraph format, and you’re good to go! But writing a 1000-word essay that’s interesting and meaningful may take more than that. Formatting requirements (MLA) and punctuation-loving professors can make toughen things up.

In our blog, we will explore how to write a 1000-word essay. After covering a few engaging and relevant topics, we’ll jump right into the essay structure. Make sure to stick around for helpful tips at the end. As always, EssayPro — essay service — is here if you need any extra help. Happy writing!

What if I Can't Come up With 1000 words?

The best tip that will shed light in the dark is writing in a non-stop regime. Just start writing without thinking about any word limit. Of course, it seems much more time-consuming and complicated. Nevertheless, this technique will let you understand and determine any gaps in your writing and then fix them in the shorter version of your draft.

Don’t panic if it ends up more than 2000+ words or more. Once you are done with the writing, read it several times, and highlight parts that you believe are worth attention. Then exclude all parts of the text that you think are unnecessary. Next step will be combining, polishing up and connecting them together. Include transitions between paragraphs to make sure that everything flows smoothly.

Essay about Disrespecting/Disobeying Nco's

The creed of the non commissioned officer essay.

The Creed of the Noncommissioned Officer is, to some, just words that must be uttered during ceremonies and those times when new sergeants earn their stripes. To others, there is no higher thought. These Soldiers live their time while in uniform trying their best to uphold everything written in those three paragraphs. Some choose what those words mean; others make little effort in deciding but let others decide for them. When I entered the service of my country 6 years ago, I had no clue that such a creed existed. My family included wartime veterans; my grandfathers served in korea. And my great Grandfather in world 1. They All served honorably and passed down many stories of both tragic and valorous deeds. They all know and have told me

respect in the army Essays

A Noncommissioned Officer's duties are numerous and must be taken seriously. An NCO's duty includes taking care of soldiers, which is your priority. Leaders must know and understand their soldiers well enough to train them as individuals and teams to operate proficiently. This will give them confidence in their ability to perform well under the difficult and demanding conditions of battle. Individual training is the principle duty and responsibility of NCOs. NCOs are responsible to fulfill not only their individual duties, but also to ensure their teams and units are successful. NCOs are accountable for your personal conduct and that of your soldiers. Noncommissioned officers have three types of duties: specified duties, directed duties

Marines use a punishment known as a Code Red to discipline any soldier who fails to comply with any and all given orders. Philip G. Military Accountability Essay

Being late does not make one important. Tardiness is a very unattractive quality when it comes to most aspects of one’s life: family functions, meetings, interviews, and especially a job. While a family may forgive tardiness, a job will not. Being late once or twice in one’s life is unavoidable. Being consistently tardy makes one unreliable and shows a lack of respect for other people’s time and obligations. Being late tells others that one person can be waited on, while everyone else can’t. People do not like when their feelings were not taken into consideration, when they took the time to consider others.

Non-commissioned Officer and Army Essay

Military duties, responsibilities and integrity is important to the Army. An NCO duties includes taking care of his or her Soldiers and accomplishing the mission. A Soldier’s duty includes obeying orders. Duty and Responsibility is part of the Army values for a reason. I’m accordance with Army regulation Field Manual 7-22.7 covers the duties, responsibilities and authorities of a Non Commissioned Officer.

Military Accountability Essay example

What is accountability? The obligation imposed by law or lawful order or regulation on an officer or other person for keeping accurate record of property, documents, or funds. The person having this obligation may or may not have actual possession of the property, documents, or funds. Accountability is concerned primarily with records, while responsibility is concerned primarily with custody, care, and safekeeping.

Respect and Integrity in the Military Essay

Respect and integrity, what really do those mean? I could look up those words in the Oxford English Dictionary or Websters, or Dictionary.com and give a scientific, perscise and exact answer to these words. And while that tells you what they mean, does that really give their meaning. Well by Dictionary.com's standards respect is a noun that means to hold in esteem or honor, and to show regard or consideration for. And Dictionary.com says that integrity means an adherence to moral and ethical principles; soundness of moral character, honesty, and the state of being whole, entire, or undiminished as to morality. Free essay on gun violence in the u.s..

900-word-essay

Introduction

I have taken into consideration Gun Violence in the U.S. as it has been observed that in recent times the gun violence in the U.S. increased at an alarming rate. As per the CDC, “One person is killed by the firearms every 17 minutes in this country, 87 individuals are killed during the average day, and 609 individuals are killed every week”. It is quite evident that gun violence is out of control in this country and anybody may be the next victim. In fact, it is needless to say that there has been an increase in the mass murders occurring everywhere in the U.S. due to guns. Which has brought the attention of common people like us towards the gun violence in the nation? People say guns are only kept for protection but in reality, there is a lot more murder connected to it (Gabor, 2016).

Guns have been in the society for centuries and they have been mainly used for war, hunting, as well as for safety. Arguably, in the past few years with regards to the U.S. people have begun to take the innocent victims’ lives, and more often the young children. The country has seen worst of gun violence when contrasted with any other country across the globe. On the contrary, most Americans get the wrong idea that all guns are bad and they are one of the main reasons for all the violence that is happening in America, but this is not the actual case. As guns do not have the power of killing the people, it is the people that kill people (Kleck, 2017).

Thomas Leonard’s case that took place in the year 2017, 9 th February is one of the most well-known gun violence in U.S. history. Places such as New York City, Chicago have one of the most serious epidemics on their hands. It is quite evident that gun violence can be stated as a national epidemic. There are countless lives that have been lost due to the fact that individuals have been able to obtain firearms both illegally and legally as well as taken the notion to be jury, judge and the executioner in terms of holding ones live in their hands.

There are some of the incidents in the U.S. that are mostly quite common for poor urban territories. Unfortunately more or less the young adults and the juveniles are mainly engaged in criminal gun violence cases to a great extent. The gun violence incidents in the U.S. mainly consist of suicides with guns, the assassination of the U.S. Presidents, homicides by the weapon type, robberies that are committed with the gun and etcetera. A huge amount of commercial larcenies in this country is mainly committed to guns. There are even a lot of reports that suggest that most of the Americans at their home are found with guns and one of the main problems lies is with the availability of guns (Gold, 2013).

In my opinion, there are some of the other significant problems that require a lot of attention in America still I consider the enhancing gun violence is one of the most significant problems that need to be addressed immediately. The loopholes in the laws of gun control in this country are allowing prohibited individuals to access the firearms in an easy manner. America is also the country with the largest stockpile with regards to the privately-owned firearms; Americans are not doing much in terms of preventing them from falling on the wrong hands.

At present, it has been observed that an increase in violence at school. For instance, Chardon High School, Newton Connecticut as well as Texas University to name a few. There are a lot of people in America who think that this is happening just because of the violent games, movies as well as even the accessible weapons at young weapons. In terms of video games, it is stated that it tends to provoke an individual because one of the main goals of the game is to kill as many people on the other team as an individual can. Earlier President Obama was quite strict with regards to having proper background checks and limiting the accessibility of the weapons. In recent times, under Donald Trump, it seems that anyone could have a weapon as long as they pass a background check which is not so strict (Frattaroli, Webster & Wintemute, 2013).

As per a report by the UC Davis Violence Prevention Research Program titled the “Inside Gun Shows: What Goes on When Everybody Thinks Nobody’s Watching” and it is reported that more than 40% of sales of guns take place in a private manner without any regulations. There are certain places in the world that have already banned guns and the same weapons. But one of the main problems in this particular scenario is that the people still have the chance for smuggling them. In the recent times, the debate centers with regards to the permeation of the gun violence in the U.S. specifically in light of rising frequency of shootings in the school and mass shooting along with the issues that is related to the background check of the buyers of the gun, selling the assault rifles as well as the connection between the mental illness and the gun violence (Fairchild, 2016).

I feel completely compassionate for the families of the Americans whose lives are taken because of gun violence. The U.S. must take some of the preventive actions against gun violence in the country and it is needless to say that they must also strengthen their laws with regards to the gun. Furthermore, the U.S. must have a lot of restrictions in terms of selling the gun legally.

In some ways, writing a 1000 word essay is no different from writing any other paper. You still need to adhere to the standard essay structure, with an introduction, body, and conclusion.

However, there are a few things to keep in mind in order to make sure your essay meets the word limit.

First of all, you need to be concise. Don't include information that isn't absolutely necessary. Be ruthless in cutting out unnecessary words and phrases.Secondly, make sure every sentence is meaningful. Don't include filler sentences or ones that simply state the obvious.

Finally, use strong verbs and active voice whenever possible. This will help to keep your writing clear and concise. This blog will guide you further.

This will lay the groundwork for your blog and help to ensure that it is well-paced, logical, and free of errors in spelling and grammar. Most importantly, remember to include the works cited page.

1000 Word Essay Structure

As with any essay, your 1000 word blog should have an introduction, body, and conclusion.

The introduction should introduce your topic and provide a brief overview of your argument.

The body should then develop this argument, using evidence and examples to support your points.

The conclusion should summarize your argument and leave the reader with something to think about.

Other than this, the essay could either have single spacing or double spacing. The word count or the number of words, the font type, and the number of pages will depend on your teacher’s instructions.

The font type is either Times New Roman or Calibri font and the size is usually 12pt.

How to Write a 1000 Word Essay?

Here are the steps to write a 1000 word essay easily:

1. Choose a topic

The first step is to choose a topic for your essay. This can be anything from a specific event or incident to a broader topic or issue.

2. Research your topic

Once you have chosen a topic, the next step is to research it in depth. This will help you to develop a strong argument and understand the topic fully.

3. Outline your essay

Once you have researched your topic, the next step is to outline your essay. This will help you to organize your thoughts and ensure that your argument is clear and well-developed.

4. Write your essay's introduction

Finally, you can start writing your essay's introduction. This should be relatively short and should only introduce the topic of your essay in broad terms.

Add the thesis statement of your essay after adding the introduction. The kind of content depends on the type of essay you are writing. An argumentative essay thesis statement will be different from a narrative essay’s thesis.

5. Write your essay's body paragraphs

Now comes the challenging part: actually writing your entire essay! Start by introducing one of the key points in your argument and explaining it in detail. Then, provide supporting evidence for this point.

6. Write your essay's conclusion

Once you have finished writing the body of your essay, it's time to write the conclusion. This should be a brief and succinct summary of your argument, and it should leave the reader with something to think about.

7. Proofread and revise your work

Finally, once you have finished writing your essay, it's time to proofread and revise it. Look for spelling and grammar errors, as well as anything that is unclear or doesn't make sense.

After revising your work, ask a friend or teacher for feedback on the overall argument and structure of the paper.

Tips to Write a Good 1000 Word Essay

Now that you know how to write a 1000 word essay, here are some tips to make the process a little easier. By following these tips, you can write your essay quickly and easily:

Don't try to write about a topic that is too broad or complex. Instead, choose something that you are familiar with and that you can easily research.

Once you have chosen a topic, start writing the body of the essay first. This will help you to develop a strong argument and provide a good outline for the essay.

Choosing a title can be difficult, but it's important that you choose one before writing your essay. Try choosing an attention-grabbing title from which you can logically develop an interesting, informative, and engaging essay.

Shakespeare's "To be or not to be" may not be a cliché, but it takes up valuable words in your 1000 word essay - so try to avoid them!

Once you have finished writing your essay, edit it carefully to ensure that there are no spelling or grammar errors. Also, check to see that your argument is clear and well-developed.

Although it's tempting to use a thesaurus to find fancy words, it's best to use them sparingly. The goal of a 1000 word essay is to be clear and concise, not to use flowery language for the sake of it.

Reading your essay out loud can help you to catch errors and awkward phrasing. It can also help you to make sure that your argument makes sense from beginning to end.

Sometimes, you might be unsure about how to approach your essay or where to start. In these situations, it can help to take a break from the writing for a few minutes and come back to it later with fresh eyes.

How to Write a Perfect 250-Word Essay with Samples and Tips

In order to learn how to write a perfect 250-word essay, an academic undertaking requires an author to observe specific standards of academic writing. Basically, these standards include following the introduction-body-conclusion outline and using the MLA, APA, Harvard, Chicago/Turabian, or any other format. In this case, students write the introductory paragraph that concludes with a thesis statement, which serves as the central pillar of entire papers. Moreover, a 250-word essay is different from a one-page paper in many ways, including formatting. While a one-page paper adopts the single-spacing format, a 250-word essay follows the double-spacing approach. Regardless of these differences, both types of essays must incorporate evidence to establish credibility. The evidence appears in body paragraphs and must align with the Sandwich Rule. In concluding essays, writers must restate the thesis and summarize the main themes without introducing new information.

Basic Principles

Writing is an exercise that requires an understanding of some basic rules of academic writing . In particular, these rules apply to any scholarly documents, where authors aim to present credible information on specific topics. Basically, writers should research widely on their topics and incorporate findings of research studies. In writing a 250-word essay, students should be specific on what they want to communicate if they intend essays to be scholarly texts. Unlike long papers that require authors to write an outline for purposes of organizing their thoughts, a 250-word essay is short. It only requires students to focus on the information they want to deliver. Hence, the use of sources in this type of essay is limited, and, if used, they must be relevant to the writer’s point of view.

Moreover, the structure of a 250-word essay entails an introductory paragraph, a body paragraph or paragraphs, and a concluding paragraph. Unless it is necessary, a writer may not provide headings and subheadings in this type of paper. Such work only covers a single page when written in the double-spaced format by considering how many pages is a 250-word essay. Therefore, a 250-word essay has from three to four paragraphs with minimal headings and none subheadings.

A 250-Word Essay Example: Healthy Lifestyle

If someone wants to understand what does a 250-word essay look like, check the sample:

Sample: Introduction

The growing cases of obesity in the United States have become a source of concern to health professionals and the government at all levels. Basically, this context has seen the medical community invest in research, with several studies highlighting the health risks that individuals face when they become obese. In turn, the findings of these studies show that a healthy lifestyle, such as eating healthy food and maintaining physical fitness, is the most effective intervention against becoming obese.

The word count of the introduction paragraph is 78 words .

Sample Body: Obese-Related Complications

The United States has a high number of fast-food restaurants, which contributes to the rising cases of obesity. Basically, this situation has predisposed a majority of Americans to junk food, especially teenagers and young professionals. For instance, several studies have established that obesity results from unhealthy diets, including fatty and junk food (evidence). In this case, these foods not only predispose individuals to being obese but also at risk of developing health complications. Moreover, the most notable obesity-related complications include cardiovascular disease, diabetes, high blood pressure, stroke, and others. In turn, the lack of physical exercise is also a factor contributing to the current trend of obesity.

The word count of the body paragraph is 107 words .

Sample: Conclusion

There is no doubt that, in order to reverse the current trend of obesity in the US, Americans must stop eating unhealthy foods and develop a habit of exercising regularly. Without regular physical exercises, the human body stores up fat that ends up blocking blood vessels and other complications. As for the recommendations, Americans must adopt healthy lifestyles to reverse the current trend of obesity.

The word count of the conclusion paragraph is 65 words .

Thus, introduction + body + conclusion parts = 78 + 107 + 65 words or 250-word essay.

Review of Writing a 250-Word Essay on Healthy Lifestyle

Paragraph 1: introduction with a thesis statement.

The first paragraph of the sample paper of the 250-word essay titled “Healthy Lifestyle” is the introduction. Basically, the opening section allows readers to know what the essay is all about. In turn, this part starts by establishing a context for the essay: the rising cases of obesity in the United States and the confirmation by research studies that obesity is a health risk. Then, the paragraph concludes with a thesis statement – maintaining a healthy lifestyle. In this case, the main sentence includes eating healthy food and maintaining physical fitness, being the most effective intervention to becoming obese. To make the statement significant, the writer bases these ideas on research findings. Moreover, the total word count for the introduction paragraph, without the title, is 78 words. Hence, the length makes the introduction part slightly shorter than the body paragraph, which is acceptable in academic writing.

Paragraph 2: Body

The second part of a 250-word essay is the body paragraph that talks about health complications associated with obesity. Just like in the introduction, the writer begins the paragraph by establishing a context, which is the proliferation of fast-food restaurants in the United States. This context helps students to understand the source of obesity in the country. Moreover, the author makes reference to research studies (evidence) on obesity to establish credibility in the text. As such, readers understand that whatever the writer talks about in the text is not informed by personal opinions but rather research findings. In academic writing, this aspect makes a text reliable. Hence, one can use it as a reference when writing a paper or contributing to an argument. In summary, the body section with the word count of 107 words provides information that strengthens the thesis statement in the introduction.

Paragraph 3: Conclusion

The last paragraph in the essay is the conclusion, which marks the end of the essay. In academic writing, the conclusion of a 250-word essay does not provide new information. Instead, it takes the most significant themes in the body of the paper and links them with the thesis statement. In the above essay, the writer begins by making a firm observation based on the content of the body section that is to stop obesity, while Americans must start eating healthy foods and exercising regularly. In turn, one can argue that the writer intends to establish the urgency of the central message. Hence, a conclusion part with the word count of 65 words provides a final appeal that marks the author’s opinion in the context of all the available knowledge. In the above essay, the writer’s concluding remark is that Americans must follow clinical recommendations about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

Principles of Academic Writing

The above 250-word essay is a scholarly text for several reasons. Firstly, it adopts the outline of an academic paper, including an introduction, a body, and a conclusion. In lengthy essays, the body comprises of several paragraphs with several headings and subheadings. Secondly, it has a thesis that helps to anchor the writer’s central message. Basically, the content of the body paragraph focuses on proving or strengthening the writer’s thesis. Thirdly, the author incorporates evidence in the paper, which appears in the body part. For instance, evidence helps to establish credibility, making the essay a scholarly text. In turn, the body paragraph starts with a topic sentence, which determines the direction of the entire section. As per the sandwich rule, the writer writes evidence to support the opening statement and then provides a statement that establishes the significance of evidence.

Comparison Between Organizing a One-Page Paper and Writing a 250-Word Essay

In academic writing, authors can choose to single-space or double-space their text. Basically, a one-page essay follows the single-spaced format, meaning the total word count should be more than 500 words. In this case, students can write different headings and subheadings in the body paragraphs to establish a logical flow to their arguments. For instance, in the MLA 8 format (Modern Language Association 8th Edition), authors many not put a title in the introductory and concluding parts. However, in the APA 7 referencing style (American Psychological Association 7th Edition) format, writers must put a title in these paragraphs. In a one-page paper in whatever format, students must put headings (and subheadings if necessary) to create a logical flow in their text. In short, the most significant characteristics of a one-page paper that distinguishes it from writing a 250-word college essay are single-spacing, including the word count.

Other Features

In a 250-word essay, the notable feature is double-spacing, which ensures the total word count on a page does not go beyond 250 words. Basically, this type of essay’s primary distinguishing feature is that it uses minimal headings. Sometimes, there are no subheadings in the body. In this case, the basis of the outline is the limited number of words, an aspect that demands writers to avoid unnecessary wording of the text. Another feature that sets apart a 250-word college essay from a one-page paper is the use of evidence to support the author’s central claim. As indicated, the need to avoid unnecessary wordings in a 250-word essay puts a demand for writers to limit the number of sources they incorporate in their texts. In turn, one can argue that this limitation in the number of sources premises on the need to satisfy the Sandwich Rule.

Based on these differences, someone may ask, “So what?” The answer to this question requires people to consider expectations before they start writing a 250-word essay. In many instances, people cannot call themselves writers who choose which format to use in writing texts because their instructors make this choice. However, if people have the freedom to choose, the above differences may influence the format they prefer. For example, students may choose to use the one-page paper format. Such work adopts a single-spacing format if they want to write their works on a single page. When it comes to choosing the format to use in writing a 250-word essay, the primary consideration that writers must make is word count. It would make no sense to write a 250-word essay in the single-space format.

How to Write a Good 250-Word Essay for Different Educational Levels

College or university papers.

In academic writing, the demand placed for writers of texts depends on their level of education. In particular, this aspect means that a university student has a higher threshold than a high schooler in academic writing to meet the criteria of writing a 250-word essay. For instance, this threshold entails several elements, including language sophistication and level of research, among others. On language sophistication, college students must demonstrate mastery of the English language, particularly regarding their subjects. In other words, when writing about nursing, university scholars must write nursing terminologies in their texts to establish an in-depth understanding of the subject matter. On the level of research, university students must include evidence in their writing to build credibility. Hence, the higher the number of sources that writers use, the more their works become an outcome of thorough research.

High School Essays

In contrast, academic writing puts no pressure on high schoolers to use sophisticated language and in-depth research. Basically, the expectation is that writers in this level of education can demonstrate a logical flow of their arguments. In other words, writers in this level of education should not focus on appearing sophisticated but rather conversant with their topics when writing a 250-word essay. As opposed to using in-depth research to anchor their texts, high schoolers should use practical examples. Here, high school writers use observable phenomena to anchor their arguments. In turn, the reason for expectations for a university student and those of a high schooler is different. It is because the former must demonstrate an in-depth understanding, and the latter must show critical thinking.

The Difference Betwen Academic Levels

The differences between a one-page essay and a 250-word essay have nothing to do with the academic level. For instance, a university student and a high schooler can write their arguments through a one-page paper or a 250-word essay. In this case, the only difference between the texts of these two students would be the sophistication of language and the level of research that they incorporate in their writings. For college students, the elements that would demonstrate a sophisticated language include theories, models, concepts, and principles around the subject matter. In turn, a one-page paper would provide a writer with enough space to explore these elements. Hence, it is impossible to organize many ideas in a 250-word college essay.

Summing Up on How to Write a Perfect 250-Word Essay

There are no questions that academic writing requires some level of professionalism to make a text credible. As indicated, several elements characterize an essay as a scholarly text, including an outline and evidence supporting the author’s central claim. 91 word essay

To be truly brilliant, an essay needs to utilise the right language. You could make a great point, but if it’s not intelligently articulated, you almost needn’t have bothered.

Developing the language skills to build an argument and to write persuasively is crucial if you’re to write outstanding essays every time. In this article, we’re going to equip you with the words and phrases you need to write a top-notch essay, along with examples of how to utilise them.

It’s by no means an exhaustive list, and there will often be other ways of using the words and phrases we describe that we won’t have room to include, but there should be more than enough below to help you make an instant improvement to your essay-writing skills.

This article is suitable for native English speakers and those who are  learning English at Oxford Royale Academy and are just taking their first steps into essay writing.

General explaining

Let’s start by looking at language for general explanations of complex points.

1. In order to

Usage: “In order to” can be used to introduce an explanation for the purpose of an argument. Example: “In order to understand X, we need first to understand Y.”

2. In other words

Usage: Use “in other words” when you want to express something in a different way (more simply), to make it easier to understand, or to emphasise or expand on a point. Example: “Frogs are amphibians. In other words, they live on the land and in the water.”

3. To put it another way

Usage: This phrase is another way of saying “in other words”, and can be used in particularly complex points, when you feel that an alternative way of wording a problem may help the reader achieve a better understanding of its significance. Example: “Plants rely on photosynthesis. To put it another way, they will die without the sun.”

4. That is to say

Usage: “That is” and “that is to say” can be used to add further detail to your explanation, or to be more precise. Example: “Whales are mammals. That is to say, they must breathe air.”

5. To that end

Usage: Use “to that end” or “to this end” in a similar way to “in order to” or “so”. Example: “Zoologists have long sought to understand how animals communicate with each other. To that end, a new study has been launched that looks at elephant sounds and their possible meanings.”

Adding additional information to support a point

Students often make the mistake of using synonyms of “and” each time they want to add further information in support of a point they’re making, or to build an argument . Here are some cleverer ways of doing this.

6. Moreover

Usage: Employ “moreover” at the start of a sentence to add extra information in support of a point you’re making. Example: “Moreover, the results of a recent piece of research provide compelling evidence in support of…”

7. Furthermore

Usage:This is also generally used at the start of a sentence, to add extra information. Example: “Furthermore, there is evidence to suggest that…”

8. What’s more

Usage: This is used in the same way as “moreover” and “furthermore”. Example: “What’s more, this isn’t the only evidence that supports this hypothesis.”

9. Likewise

Usage: Use “likewise” when you want to talk about something that agrees with what you’ve just mentioned. Example: “Scholar A believes X. Likewise, Scholar B argues compellingly in favour of this point of view.”

10. Similarly

Usage: Use “similarly” in the same way as “likewise”. Example: “Audiences at the time reacted with shock to Beethoven’s new work, because it was very different to what they were used to. Similarly, we have a tendency to react with surprise to the unfamiliar.”

11. Another key thing to remember

Usage: Use the phrase “another key point to remember” or “another key fact to remember” to introduce additional facts without using the word “also”. Example: “As a Romantic, Blake was a proponent of a closer relationship between humans and nature. Another key point to remember is that Blake was writing during the Industrial Revolution, which had a major impact on the world around him.”

12. As well as

Usage: Use “as well as” instead of “also” or “and”. Example: “Scholar A argued that this was due to X, as well as Y.”

13. Not only… but also

Usage: This wording is used to add an extra piece of information, often something that’s in some way more surprising or unexpected than the first piece of information. Example: “Not only did Edmund Hillary have the honour of being the first to reach the summit of Everest, but he was also appointed Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire.”

14. Coupled with

Usage: Used when considering two or more arguments at a time. Example: “Coupled with the literary evidence, the statistics paint a compelling view of…”

15. Firstly, secondly, thirdly…

Usage: This can be used to structure an argument, presenting facts clearly one after the other. Example: “There are many points in support of this view. Firstly, X. Secondly, Y. And thirdly, Z.

16. Not to mention/to say nothing of

Usage: “Not to mention” and “to say nothing of” can be used to add extra information with a bit of emphasis. Example: “The war caused unprecedented suffering to millions of people, not to mention its impact on the country’s economy.”

Words and phrases for demonstrating contrast

When you’re developing an argument, you will often need to present contrasting or opposing opinions or evidence – “it could show this, but it could also show this”, or “X says this, but Y disagrees”. This section covers words you can use instead of the “but” in these examples, to make your writing sound more intelligent and interesting.

17. However

Usage: Use “however” to introduce a point that disagrees with what you’ve just said. Example: “Scholar A thinks this. However, Scholar B reached a different conclusion.”

18. On the other hand

Usage: Usage of this phrase includes introducing a contrasting interpretation of the same piece of evidence, a different piece of evidence that suggests something else, or an opposing opinion. Example: “The historical evidence appears to suggest a clear-cut situation. On the other hand, the archaeological evidence presents a somewhat less straightforward picture of what happened that day.”

19. Having said that

Usage: Used in a similar manner to “on the other hand” or “but”. Example: “The historians are unanimous in telling us X, an agreement that suggests that this version of events must be an accurate account. Having said that, the archaeology tells a different story.”

20. By contrast/in comparison

Usage: Use “by contrast” or “in comparison” when you’re comparing and contrasting pieces of evidence. Example: “Scholar A’s opinion, then, is based on insufficient evidence. By contrast, Scholar B’s opinion seems more plausible.”

21. Then again

Usage: Use this to cast doubt on an assertion. Example: “Writer A asserts that this was the reason for what happened. Then again, it’s possible that he was being paid to say this.”

22. That said

Usage: This is used in the same way as “then again”. Example: “The evidence ostensibly appears to point to this conclusion. That said, much of the evidence is unreliable at best.”

Usage: Use this when you want to introduce a contrasting idea. Example: “Much of scholarship has focused on this evidence. Yet not everyone agrees that this is the most important aspect of the situation.”

Adding a proviso or acknowledging reservations

Sometimes, you may need to acknowledge a shortfalling in a piece of evidence, or add a proviso. Here are some ways of doing so.

24. Despite this

Usage: Use “despite this” or “in spite of this” when you want to outline a point that stands regardless of a shortfalling in the evidence. Example: “The sample size was small, but the results were important despite this.”

25. With this in mind

Usage: Use this when you want your reader to consider a point in the knowledge of something else. Example: “We’ve seen that the methods used in the 19th century study did not always live up to the rigorous standards expected in scientific research today, which makes it difficult to draw definite conclusions. With this in mind, let’s look at a more recent study to see how the results compare.”

26. Provided that

Usage: This means “on condition that”. You can also say “providing that” or just “providing” to mean the same thing. Example: “We may use this as evidence to support our argument, provided that we bear in mind the limitations of the methods used to obtain it.”

27. In view of/in light of

Usage: These phrases are used when something has shed light on something else. Example: “In light of the evidence from the 2013 study, we have a better understanding of…”

28. Nonetheless

Usage: This is similar to “despite this”. Example: “The study had its limitations, but it was nonetheless groundbreaking for its day.”

29. Nevertheless

Usage: This is the same as “nonetheless”. Example: “The study was flawed, but it was important nevertheless.”

30. Notwithstanding

Usage: This is another way of saying “nonetheless”. Example: “Notwithstanding the limitations of the methodology used, it was an important study in the development of how we view the workings of the human mind.”

Giving examples

Good essays always back up points with examples, but it’s going to get boring if you use the expression “for example” every time. Here are a couple of other ways of saying the same thing.

31. For instance

Example: “Some birds migrate to avoid harsher winter climates. Swallows, for instance, leave the UK in early winter and fly south…”

32. To give an illustration

Example: “To give an illustration of what I mean, let’s look at the case of…”

Signifying importance

When you want to demonstrate that a point is particularly important, there are several ways of highlighting it as such.

33. Significantly

Usage: Used to introduce a point that is loaded with meaning that might not be immediately apparent. Example: “Significantly, Tacitus omits to tell us the kind of gossip prevalent in Suetonius’ accounts of the same period.”

34. Notably

Usage: This can be used to mean “significantly” (as above), and it can also be used interchangeably with “in particular” (the example below demonstrates the first of these ways of using it). Example: “Actual figures are notably absent from Scholar A’s analysis.”

35. Importantly

Usage: Use “importantly” interchangeably with “significantly”. Example: “Importantly, Scholar A was being employed by X when he wrote this work, and was presumably therefore under pressure to portray the situation more favourably than he perhaps might otherwise have done.”

Summarising

You’ve almost made it to the end of the essay, but your work isn’t over yet. You need to end by wrapping up everything you’ve talked about, showing that you’ve considered the arguments on both sides and reached the most likely conclusion. Here are some words and phrases to help you.

36. In conclusion

Usage: Typically used to introduce the concluding paragraph or sentence of an essay, summarising what you’ve discussed in a broad overview. Example: “In conclusion, the evidence points almost exclusively to Argument A.”

37. Above all

Usage: Used to signify what you believe to be the most significant point, and the main takeaway from the essay. Example: “Above all, it seems pertinent to remember that…”

38. Persuasive

Usage: This is a useful word to use when summarising which argument you find most convincing. Example: “Scholar A’s point – that Constanze Mozart was motivated by financial gain – seems to me to be the most persuasive argument for her actions following Mozart’s death.”

39. Compelling

Usage: Use in the same way as “persuasive” above. Example: “The most compelling argument is presented by Scholar A.”

40. All things considered

Usage: This means “taking everything into account”. Example: “All things considered, it seems reasonable to assume that…”

Our Aim Zero Harm Essay

Download Guide

Zero harm is an important concept that has gained widespread acceptance across various industries. The aim of zero harm is to eliminate accidents, injuries, and illnesses in the workplace. Here are some sample essays on ‘our aim zero harm’.

Our Aim Zero Harm Essay

100 Words Essay on Our Aim Zero Harm

The idea of ‘our aim zero harm’ is to create a culture of safety where everyone is responsible for their own safety and the safety of others around them. The aim of zero harm is a noble and worthwhile goal that should be pursued by every organisation.

It is difficult to achieve zero harm, and it takes a team effort from everyone involved in the workplace. Organisations must prioritise safety and integrate it into all aspects of their operations in order to achieve zero damage. Companies need to create solid safety rules and procedures, provide their staff the necessary training, and spend money on infrastructure and equipment for safety.

200 Words Essay on Our Aim Zero Harm

Achieving zero harm requires a collective effort from everyone involved in the workplace, and it is not an easy task.

Achieving zero harm has several advantages. It assists in lowering the monetary costs of workplace accidents, including medical bills, workers' compensation claims, and lost productivity. Also, it helps to boost the organisation's credibility and reputation, which may result in more commercial possibilities and higher staff morale.

However, achieving zero harm is not just about reducing costs or enhancing the organisation's reputation. It is about valuing human life and ensuring that everyone goes home safe and healthy at the end of each workday. Every employee has the right to a safe workplace, and it is the responsibility of every employer to provide it.

Significance

The significance of our aim zero harm cannot be overstated.

Sustainability | Achieving zero harm is essential for sustainability. A safe workplace can help to reduce the environmental impact of the organisation's operations. This can help to ensure the long-term viability of the organisation and its activities.

The protection of human life, the reduction of costs, the enhancement of reputation, the fulfilment of legal obligations, the enhancement of production, and the promotion of sustainability all depend on attaining zero harm. Organisations may develop a culture of safety and reach the objective of zero harm by giving safety a high priority and integrating it into daily operations.

500 Words Essay on Our Aim Zero Harm

The concept of zero harm has evolved over time and has its roots in the safety movement that emerged in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.

History of The Evolution of The Concept of Zero Harm

The Safety Movement | The safety movement began in the late 19th century, and its goal was to improve workplace safety. The movement led to the creation of safety laws and regulations, which required employers to provide a safe working environment for their employees.

The Zero Accident Vision | The idea of the zero accident vision first appeared in the 1930s. The premise was that every accident could be avoided, and the objective was to have no workplace accidents. Later, this idea was expanded to encompass both diseases and injuries in addition to accidents.

The Zero Harm Vision | In the 1990s, the concept of zero harm emerged. The goal of zero harm was to eliminate all harm to employees, contractors, and the public. This concept was more comprehensive than the zero accident vision, as it included harm from illnesses and diseases.

Implementation of Zero Harm | Several organisations have embraced the idea of zero harm in recent years and incorporated it into their safety procedures. As a result, there have been much fewer workplace accidents, illnesses, and injuries.

The idea of zero harm is now generally recognised across many industries, and many organisations have declared achieving zero harm their mission. The goal is to establish a culture of safety in which each individual is accountable for both their personal safety and the safety of others around them.

Importance of Our Aim Zero Harm

The importance of our aim zero harm cannot be overstated. Here are some reasons why achieving zero harm is crucial:

Protecting Human Life | The preservation of human life serves as the primary motivation for seeking zero harm. Every employee has a legal right to a secure working environment, and employers are tasked with ensuring that this is the case. We can guarantee that no one is injured or loses their life as a result of a working accident by attaining zero harm.

Reducing Financial Costs | Workplace accidents can be costly for businesses. They can result in medical expenses, workers' compensation claims, and lost productivity. Achieving zero harm can help organisations save money by reducing the financial impact of workplace accidents.

Enhancing Reputation | Organisations that put safety first and aim for zero damage can improve their trust and image. This may result in more prospects for the company and higher staff morale.

Compliance | Achieving zero harm can help organisations comply with legal and regulatory requirements. It can also help them maintain a positive relationship with regulatory bodies and avoid penalties.

Productivity | A safe workplace promotes productivity. Employees are more likely to be productive and perform better when they feel protected and secure. Hence, achieving zero damage might result in increased productivity and better financial results.

The protection of human life, cost savings, reputational enhancement, legal compliance, and increased productivity all depend on attaining zero damage. Organisations may develop a culture of safety and reach the objective of zero harm by giving safety a high priority and integrating it into daily operations.

Who Is Jerry Sandusky Responsible For The Crimes At Penn State

From 2005 to 2008, Sandusky became friends with a young boy from the Second Mile program. The boy later described that Sandusky met him in a swimming pool at the camp ran by his foundation. He wanted the boy to hang out with him outside of camp, so he gave Sandusky his mom’s phone number to get a hold of him. Sandusky “seemed nice” said the boy. The boy would sleep over for up to four hours at his house. Sandusky started off by just touching the young boy. Eventually forcing him to engage in anal and oral sex. Once the boy turned 16, he had enough (pennlive). It was later reported that he performed oral sex 20 times, and the boy did it once to him. The boy, at age 18 later testified against Sandusky during his trial on 2011

Research Paper On Jerry Sandusky

Jerry Sandusky is a sexual predator that used his influence in the community of State College to protect himself as he sexually assaulted ten boys over fifteen years(O'Neill, 2012). Most of the new information revealed is about the case as it went through the different stages of the criminal trial. The trial took place at the Centre County Courthouse and is seen as a necessary part of healing and moving forward for the victims of the sexual predator(O'Neill, 2012). Sandusky was successful at manipulating his victims, friends, and the circumstances which allowed him to take advantage of troubled youth that were partaking in programs offered by the The Second Mile(O'Neill, 2012). Sandusky met most of his victims through The Second Mile nonprofit organization and was able to manipulate time with his victims while appearing to be a father figure to disadvantaged children(Hobson & Boren, 2016).Throughout all of my research it amazes me how bold Jerry Sandusky became with his victims and coworkers while plotting his attack on his victims.

Jerry Sandusky Sentencing Case Study

I do agree with the sentence imposed on Jerry Sandusky, just like I believe most people who followed this trial did. He will most likely end up not making it out of prison, the judge made this decision for many reasons. Sentencing is one of the most difficult jobs of the judge, seeing as the a judge cannot just give out any sentence he must abide by guidelines and stipulations (Bohm & Haley, 2014). During this trial Jerry Sandusky was sentenced to more than 30 years but not more than 60 (UPI Newstrack, 2012). This sentencing was efficient for a multitude of reasons, even though he could have been given more time, and it is explained by the judge that he could have done so. Although he gave a well enough reason for as to why he did not, the
