Respect is a definition that has many meanings and aspects to it. But what meanings that means the most to me is family, yourself and your peers. Respect comes with trust, obedience and integrity. Those meanings all together have not only a personal meaning but also a reflection on me and to others as well. Here’s an explanation of how all these meanings come together to define the word respect. First off, family is the most important part of life.
If you don’t learn respect from your family then you won’t have respect for yourself or others.
It doesn’t matter what part of your family it is, could be your father, mother, sister, brother it doesn’t matter you should always respect them. For instance, you and your mom could get into an argument whether it be about money, going out , or not doing chores you should always be obedient and respectful to them. If you do not learn to be obedient to your mother or father then you won’t obey orders from your superiors.

“ He did an excellent job on my argument essay! Everything just seems perfect. I highly recommend him! ”
Now if you don’t respect your siblings then you won’t respect your friends or your fellow soldiers.
Take this for example, if you and your brother can’t work together about getting a chore done or even if you and him play in a sport you must respect your siblings so that you can learn values that can lead you to work well with others and be a team player.

With all the examples that has been given just sum up a small portion of what respect means. With family respecting your elders, parents and your siblings all can lead to being great to work with others, and that you are able to conduct yourself in a manner that will also get you respect in the end.
Secondly respecting yourself has a lot of meaning behind it. If you don’t respect yourself you cannot learn to respect others. You should learn at a young age that having confidence in yourself and learning from your mistakes also can make you have that self-respect. For example, if you are in the middle of a quiz and you can’t seem to find the right answers to the question you shouldn’t get angry or upset about it. Yes it can be on the tip of your tongue and you know it but you can’t just freak out and cause a scene. Have that self-respect to learn from it and keep pushing on.
Making mistakes is a part of human nature. We make them all the time. Sometimes we don’t own up to them but people with self-respect can. For instance, you were told to conduct a task that you’ve done before. So knowing what you have to do to get it done should be easy. So you conduct the task and you report back but you forgot something. Instead of making excuses you should just admit that you forgot about it and fix it on the spot. And if it keeps happening make a plan so that you can go step by step on that task so that you don’t miss anything or forget anything.
Respecting yourself can also teach you to respect others. Knowing that you can do the right thing can lead you to gaining respect from others. For example, if an nco tells you to do something and you get it done with no problems shows them that they can entrust you with any task and respect you enough to give you more responsibility. Another example is that your buddies go out and get into trouble. You automatically go help them and get them out of trouble. When an nco asks what happened you tell him or her that you went to help them and got them back safe.
That shows the nco that you know to do the right thing. Self-respect can get you respect, can earn you trust and can also make you know more and gain knowledge. Lastly, respecting your peers is a key to gaining trust and respect from others. You can have that bond with your peers that will last forever. Even if you do something for someone else, the example you shown will gain some ones respect, for example, if a person is going through a personal problem and you take time out of your own time to help them and be there and someone else sees that, you will gain their respect.
Also with that you can just be helpful to someone too. You can be going about your day when you see someone struggling to carry bags of groceries or is carrying something big. You run over to them to help them out and carry the load. You bring the stuff to their room and they thank you and you both go about your day. But that person won’t forget that small gesture of kindness and you have gained their respect so when they need help they will go to for it. Respecting your peers also can help when it comes to the work place.
Let’s think of this example, one of the soldiers in your section needs help and cannot find anyone who will take the time to help them out with a task. You offer your assistance to them and they will look up to you for anything else they need to accomplish the task. Just a small gesture can gain you respect in the end. So in conclusion to this part of my essay, respect can vary in many ways, it can show people that you are a generous, obedient, and good at following directions.
You can gain so much through life with respect such as trust, friendship, and just overall great deal of acceptance throughout your friends, colleagues and peers. Respecting your family teaches you obedience, integrity, and selfless service. Respecting yourself teaches you, perseverance, courage, and confidence. Respecting your peers teaches you integrity, loyalty and duty. With all these meanings combined together they represent what respect is all about and what it means.

there are many different kinds of respect. You can respect or disrespect places, items, beliefs, cultures, and people. Additionally, there are numerous meanings on being respectful. Primarily, respectful means a person to treat someone as one wants to get treated as. Even that ‘someone’ doesn’t want to respect the person, she/he must treat the person well. If the person doesn’t, that will make the person as same as the person who didn’t treat the one at first. Another meaning of respectful would be to listen to other’s opinions. When students do group projects with other people, they should always listen to their peers’ ideas, because that is respect, and there might be a better idea. Lastly, being respectful means to treat everyone equally. Maybe the treatment to an unknown person and a best friend will totally be different, but this case will be discrimination on anything. People Should Follow the Code of the West, Talk Less; Say More
Respect is something that is earned and it is not earned through the things that you say, but the things that you do. If you are trying to earn someone’s respect I guarantee you that if you just talked to them all of the time they would not like for that. You have to prove it through the things that you do and the ways that you act. This was a big thing back in the west. If a new guy came to town he did not earn respect through all of the people he talked to and the stories that he told, because those were just stories. He had to earn it by what he did. This is where actions really speak louder than words. Respect is also something that everyone in life is looking for, whether they know it or not and sometimes they think they have done everything to deserve it, when really they have not done the most important thing; prove they can follow up and what they say. You have to be able to back up all of the words that come out of your mouth with actions because there is just talking about doing something and then there is
What Does Being Respect Mean To Me
To me, respect means to treat everybody with care and recognition. Being respectful is about accepting a person’s styles, methods, and thinking as well as showing him or her courtesy and politeness. Treat people the way you want to be treated by showing him or her the same respect you want for yourself. This action could be carried out in a day-to-day classroom by allowing someone to include their own ideas and contribute to things such as group projects or just being kind in conversation and other types of communication. If someone were to walk into the room and observe this community agreement, he or she would see people sharing techniques and suggestions and nicely commenting on each other’s opinions. He or she would see students including

Personal Narrative: Repair Of Our Country Through Respect
Throughout life we were taught how to act and behave. We were taught by your parent's, teachers, as well as our own senses of your surroundings. Each and every person goes through life in a different atmosphere. The word respect basically means the way you understand something, and embracing the similarities or differences. The way you and I understand something, others may be complete opposite side of the fence in their point of view on the same topic. This is where Respect ultimately comes to play. Respect is acknowledging these differences while not letting the difference come between you in a negative way. I personally view respect as a positive influence, never negative no matter how its used.

Today, the word respect is spoken vicariously. However, we may not truly understand what respect means. Respect “is the feeling of deep admiration for someone or something elicited by their abilities, qualities, or achievements (Oxford Dictionary).” This definition can become clear when one learns that respect comes from the Latin respectus, meaning “regard, a looking back at, consider.” The word respect could also be derived from the Latin specere, which means to look at. As early as the 1580’s, a common definition of respect was used to hold someone in regard due to his personal worth or power (Online Etymology Dictionary-This definition… power). Respect is a word that has a lot of depth to it no matter what way you use it. The word by definition is kinda hard to pin down concretely because it is so subjective and it can be used in many different ways with many different meanings based on the usage. It is a word that everybody wants a piece of no matter how big or small the piece they get is. All definitions aside, the respect that most people want is the respect that is earned by the showing of honorable actions or personality characteristics. Be it dedication and sacrifices for ones job or ones moral and ethical views and principles. These are examples of some traits a person can earn respect from normally. I say “Normally” because in all facets of life respect is almost always something to be earned and given on a personal level. My personal view is that showing respect is more a statement about us than those to whom we show it. Others may or may not merit our respect, but giving others their dignity protects our integrity and honor. We can set limits, but we do not have to stoop to gross behavior to protect…

Morality and Respect
Respect has great importance in everyday life. As children we are taught to respect our parents, teachers, and elders, family and cultural traditions, other people's feelings, our country's flag and leaders. And we do tend to value these things; when we grow older, we may shake our heads at people who seem not to have learned to respect them. We develop the tendency to respect only those who are popular. We may also come to believe that, at some level, all people are worthy of respect. We may learn that jobs and relationships become unbearable if we receive no respect in them. Calls to respect certain things are increasingly part of public life: environmentalists exhort us to respect nature, foes of abortion and capital punishment insist on respect for human life, members of racial and ethnic minorities and those discriminated against because of their gender, sexual orientation, age, religious beliefs, or economic status demand respect both as social and moral equals and for their cultural differences. We may learn both that our lives together go better when we respect the things that deserve to be respected and that we should respect some things independently of considerations of how our lives would go.…

Respect…. take a moment to think about this one little world that means so much to so many people. What does respect mean to you? Generally respect means treating others the way you would like to be treated. We are taught from infancy to respect our elders, teachers, friends, and everyone else whether we know them or not. Respect is a simple gesture like saying: thank you, you’re welcome, or even obeying an order. Many of us, like me, forget to do these small, simple gestures. Getting caught up in the moment and not realizing our actions can cause us to seem rude and disrespectful. When in our own minds we never realized we done anything wrong.
