Everyone can bring one small cabin bag per person on board for free.

It can be a maximum size of 45 x 36 x 20 cm (including any handles or wheels) and needs to fit under the seat in front of you. That should be enough to bring all the essentials for your journey or for a short trip. Your bag can weigh up to 15kg, but we do ask that you’re able to lift and carry it yourself.

If you’d also like to bring a large cabin bag on board (max. 56 x 45 x 25 cm, including any handles or wheels), you have the option to:

If you’re an easyJet Plus cardholder or customer who has booked a FLEXI fare, you can also bring a large cabin bag on board (in addition to your small cabin bag) as part of your membership or fare benefits. See below for full details.

Please note that the maximum number of cabin bags available per person is two; one small cabin bag for all customers and one large cabin bag for customers where it’s included with their seat, fare or membership benefits or where they have paid to add one to their booking.

Remember - purchasing all your bags online is cheaper and will help you avoid paying bag fees at the airport and your cabin bags being placed in the hold.

Cabin bag allowances:, your cabin bag allowance - all customers.

If you choose not to select a seat when you book, our system will automatically allocate your seat when you check in and will aim to seat you next to others on your booking. Please be aware that if you’re auto-allocated an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat, your cabin bag allowance will be one small under seat cabin bag.

Check your cabin bag size

We check cabin bag sizes before you board. If your cabin bag is bigger than the maximum size allowed or if you bring a large cabin bag to the departure gate without the correct seat selection or without one pre-booked for your flight, it won’t be able to go in the cabin. We’ll have to check it into the aircraft hold and charges will apply. So it’s important to check your cabin bag allowance before you travel to avoid any unexpected charges. See the bags table on our Fees and Charges  page for full details.

If you’re unsure whether your cabin bag fits within our maximum dimensions, you can use our handy bag sizing tool on our app (iOS only). Simply open the app and click on your trip itinerary to find the bag sizing tool. You can then use your mobile phone camera to size your cabin bag. If it fits inside the maximum cabin bag dimensions for the bag type you’ve selected, you’re good to go. If it doesn’t fit, don’t worry! You can always change your seat or hold luggage quickly and easily through our app or within Manage Bookings .

How you can bring a large cabin bag on board

When you book a flight with us, you’ll be offered the option to choose a seat. Up Front and Extra Legroom seats include a large cabin bag.

If you choose not to select one of these seats, or not to select a seat, you’ll then be offered the option to add a large cabin bag to your booking.

Any seat or bag booking that enables you to bring a large cabin bag on board also entitles you to Speedy Boarding, so you can be one of the first to board.

Seat & cabin bag options can be selected at the time of booking, or before you check in via Manage Bookings  or on our app. You can also do this by contacting our  Customer Services Team , but a small additional admin fee may apply if you ask them to do it for you.

Please note that availability and prices may vary per flight, depending on when you book, and large cabin bag options may not always be available for your flight. We recommend that where possible you add seats or bags when making your booking to ensure the best availability.

If you’re an easyJet Plus cardholder or a customer who has booked a FLEXI fare , you can also bring a large cabin bag on board in addition to your small cabin bag.

easyJet Plus cardholders and FLEXI fare customers

In addition to your standard cabin bag allowance, as an easyJet Plus cardholder or FLEXI fare  customer, you can also bring a large cabin bag on board by selecting an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat. You can do this free of charge or at a discounted rate, as one of the benefits of your membership or fare.

If these seats aren’t available on your flight, you can still bring your large cabin bag with you. If you’re an easyJet Plus cardholder, please show your easyJet Plus card at the gate so you can board with your large cabin bag. FLEXI fare customers should show their boarding pass.

In the unlikely event that there’s no space available, your large cabin bag will be placed in the hold at the gate, free of charge.

Your cabin bag allowance - easyJet Plus cardholders and FLEXI fare

easyJet Plus cardholders can select an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat free of charge as a benefit of their membership.

FLEXI fare customers can select an Up Front seat free of charge; Extra Legroom seats are available at a discounted rate.

Cabin bag allowances for children and infants

Infants with booked seats and children over 2 years old have the same cabin bag and hold luggage allowance as adults.

If you’re travelling with an infant who will be seated on your lap, an additional baby changing bag is allowed for the infant (max. 45 x 36 x 20 cm) and this needs to fit under the seat in front of you.

If the infant is occupying their own seat, you can bring:

In addition, for every infant or child travelling with you, you can bring up to two of the following items for free, in addition to your standard cabin bag allowance:

You can check these in at Bag Drop before you go through security, or if you need to use any of them to get to the boarding gate, we’ll collect them from you before you board the plane and put them in the hold. They can then be collected at the baggage reclaim when you arrive

Please see our Flying with children and infants  page for more information.

To simplify our baggage options we’re no longer offering Hands Free, however we still have a wide range of other bag choices available including a large cabin bag option from £5.99, or hold bags from just £6.99. If you’ve already booked or have a voucher for Hands Free, you can of course still use the service.

Smart luggage

Smart luggage is a bag (suitcase, rucksack or similar) that contains a lithium battery or power bank, which is used to power itself or to recharge other devices. There are restrictions on the type of lithium batteries allowed. Please check here  for more information.

If the smart luggage is to be carried in the cabin, you need to disconnect and remove the lithium battery/power bank from the smart luggage, but it can stay in the bag.

For safety reasons, the lithium battery/power bank needs to be disconnected, so if you are unable to remove it from your luggage, we won’t be able to accept the bag on board.

Hold luggage

Each customer (including children and infants) can buy up to three hold bags. A standard hold bag is 23kg. You can buy extra weight in 3kgs units, up to a maximum of 32kg per bag.

If you’re travelling with family or friends on the same flight and booking, you can pool your total weight allowance.

No single item can weigh more than 32kg. Maximum total size (length + width + height) must be under 275cm.

We've got a range of bag options to suit every kind of trip:

Luggage 15kg

The smart choice for a short break.

Luggage 23kg

23kg standard bag

If you're going away for a little longer our standard bag is the perfect choice.

Luggage 32kg

Up to 32kg bag

For those who pack everything except the kitchen sink.

Hold luggage explained 0m47s

If the smart luggage is to be checked in and put in the hold, you need to disconnect and remove the lithium battery/power bank from the smart luggage at Bag Drop and take it into the cabin with you. Any exposed terminals should be covered with tape to prevent against short circuits.

Accessories

You’re allowed to bring some extra things into the cabin. e.g. umbrella, overcoat, crutches, walking stick, one standard bag of goods bought at the airport.

Adding hold luggage to your booking

The easiest and cheapest way to do this is online or via our mobile app when you book your flights. You can also add them after you’ve booked in Manage Bookings , or during online check-in.

Please note that purchasing your bags online is cheaper. Any bags not purchased online in advance, or that exceed your cabin bag allowance, will need to be placed in the hold, and you will be required to pay an airport bag fee of up to £48 per bag.

You can also do this at the airport or via our Customer Services Team but it does cost a little more. See fees and charges .

When you add hold luggage to your booking we add a bag to all sectors on your booking. Once you’ve booked hold luggage we’re unable to offer you a refund should you change your mind. If you want to buy hold luggage for only one sector, you can only do this at the airport. Please check our fees and charges  for current prices.

If you’ve already checked in you can still add hold luggage to your booking in Manage Bookings . Once you’ve added your luggage simply reprint your boarding passes.

Adding extra luggage weight

It’s important that you buy the right amount of weight before you fly. You can add extra weight to your hold luggage booking at any time before you fly.  It’s easier and cheaper to do this online via Manage Bookings . If your hold luggage weighs more than your allowance when you arrive at the airport we charge you a fee for each 1kg of excess weight. (See fees and charges ).

Useful packing tips

Label your luggage with your name, destination address, email and phone number, and remove tags from previous flights. It’s also advisable to put a copy of your address inside your bag. Avoid packing valuables in your hold luggage and secure handles and loose straps to avoid any damage. It’s best to carry medicine, money and important travel documents in your cabin bag.

Some items are not allowed in the cabin or hold luggage. See restricted items for guidance.

easyJet hand luggage explained, and how to maximise your baggage allowance

easy jet small cabin bag

Many of us have been unable to travel since the first lockdown began in March 2020. With plans for non-essential holidays to resume this summer, we thought it was time to give you a refresher on easyJet’s cabin baggage policies – and how to maximise your allowance.

Although it’s not currently possible to leave the country for non-essential purposes, we want to give you the information you need so you’re prepared to get back out there once going abroad gets the all-clear.

Things change quickly. Before booking your flights it’s important to double check the FCDO’s travel advice . Check COVID-related restrictions in the country you’re flying to, and whether or not you need to self-isolate in a hotel when you get back to the UK. Finally, make sure you follow COVID-19 safety rules – such as keeping hands clean and avoiding touching your face – if you do need to travel.

easyJet hand luggage allowance and cabin bag size

easyJet updated its cabin bag policy on 10 February 2021. The number and size of pieces you can bring on board now depends on your seat type.

It’s worth noting that, if you’re randomly allocated an Extra Legroom or Up Front seat , you’ll only be allowed to take one small underseat bag. So you can’t escape that extra fee!

There’s no weight limit for easyJet hand luggage, which makes things easier, but you do need to be able to lift it into the overhead locker yourself. The generic 10kg is a good weight to aim for.

How can you save money on the easyJet hand luggage allowance?

Now that easyJet has reduced the amount of bags you can bring on board, we’ve got seven suggestions for you, to make sure you definitely won’t be caught out by hidden charges.

1. Pack lighter

Young woman sitting on an airport chair, working on a laptop and wearing a small canvas backpack.

If you’re heading off for a short break, try to fit everything into your small cabin bag. That way you won’t need to pay for a seat upgrade. It’s all about packing light . Choose a canvas tote bag: they’re flexible and can expand, plus double up as a handbag or beach bag once you arrive at your destination. When you’re booking your accommodation, look for places with an on-site laundrette (or one nearby) so you can wash and re-wear your favourite pieces. Try to avoid bringing multiple pairs of shoes. Think about the facilities at the hotel – for example there’s likely to be a hairdryer in your room, so that’s one less thing to bring along.

If you’re not sure what to leave behind, read our article on 10 things you really shouldn’t be packing .

2. Wear your easyJet hand luggage

Man viewed from behind, standing outside airport with a suitcase in his hand. He's wearing a bomber jacket and chinos.

We don’t mean using your suitcase as a makeshift sunhat or stuffing your rucksack down your trousers. We’re talking about a new generation of ‘wearable luggage’ or ‘luggage jackets’ – essentially clothing that allows you to carry your belongings about your person when flying. These have plenty of hidden pockets that you can fill with folded clothing and valuables. Okay, so you’ll probably be a bit hot and stuffy but you can sling it over your arm while you queue or take it off as soon as you board. Plus, if you pad it with your holiday outfits, it’ll make a comfy travel pillow.

Read our review of the best wearable luggage products around for more sneaky ways to boost your baggage allowance .

3. Book a cheaper flight

Young woman wearing a hat, reading her phone and sitting cross-legged at the airport

You’ve probably noticed that airfares go up and down due to supply and demand. The cheapest tickets usually go on sale first, and quieter routes often have lower prices as fewer people snap them up. It’s the same for Flexi and Extra Legroom seats – they go up and down as well. Extra Legroom seats can be as cheap as £7.99 and as high as £39.99. By choosing to fly on a quieter route, booking your seats during a sale or getting your tickets early, it’s likely you’ll find these upgraded seats – with their increased hand luggage allowance – for less.

Read our tips on finding cheap last-minute flights .

4. Check in your bag

An overstuffed suitcase sitting half open on a bed while someone tries to press it closed.

It might sound like admitting defeat, but checking in what used to be your easyJet hand luggage can save you a big wedge of cash at the airport. If you sneakily bring a larger cabin bag (measuring up to 56 x 45 x 25cm) without paying for the seat upgrade, you’ll be charged £24 at the gate. According to easyJet’s terms and conditions , it can cost as little as £6.99 to check in a 15kg bag if you book online in advance, so on most routes it pays to book your bag in.

How much does easyJet charge for hold luggage?

Like its airfares, easyJet luggage costs fluctuate depending on the flight route and time of booking.

5. Become a member

Woman standing with her suitcase handle in one hand, a canvas backpack slung over her shoulder, and her passport and ticket in the other hand

Frequent flyer? Join the easyJet Plus scheme (annual fee £215). As well as automatically being allowed to bring a larger cabin bag on board, you also get to upgrade to Upfront or Extra Legroom seats for free. Other benefits include a dedicated bag drop desk, fast-track security and speedy boarding. Bear in mind that Plus benefits only extend to the person with the membership, so your partner or kids won’t get to bring an extra bag or join you in the faster queue. Obviously it isn’t the cheapest option, but it could work out well if you travel more than 10 times per year and need to bring a large bag on every trip.

6. Book a FLEXI fare ticket

Man sitting at airport holding his suitcase handle in one hand and his passport and ticket in the other.

If your budget doesn’t quite stretch to full membership, treat yourself on a case-by-case basis by opting for the FLEXI Fare. These are more expensive than standard tickets, but have a bundle of goodies including that coveted extra cabin bag plus a 23kg hold bag. Fast-track security, speedy boarding and an in-flight bistro voucher are also included in the price. Another great benefit is free flight and route changes +/- one day from your travel date. And if the past year has taught us anything, it’s that it pays to be flexible.

You can find flexible tickets easily with Skyscanner. Just tick the box marked ‘flexible tickets only’ before you search. You can also find this option on the search results page. It’s on the left-hand side, underneath ‘Stops’ and above ‘COVID-19 safety rating”.

Read our flexible travel guide for more tips on finding changeable tickets.

7. Use another airline

Woman standing at airport checking the departure board.

If you really object to this new clampdown on hand luggage, then make a stand and fly with a different airline. There’s often a choice of carriers flying different routes. British Airways is known for having a generous cabin baggage allowance, letting passengers bring two pieces on board. However Ryanair is even tighter than easyJet, with standard passengers only being allowed to bring one piece of underseat baggage – measuring 40 x 25 x 20cm (smaller than easyJet’s 45 x 36 x 20cm). You can instantly see which carriers fly on your route using our flight search.

Compare airline hand baggage policies in our guide to size and weight restrictions .

Super service to get a suitcase to my daughter at university in England. Straightforward website to navigate. Great instructions and excellent price. Only thing that could improve it, is the collection time as I was given 9-6 pm as a window for collection, which is a long day in the house!

Straightforward pick up, delivery, tracking and notification. Able to reschedule delivery. I would use this service again.

This company is so professional, reliable and trustworthy. I have been using them for over 10 years and my baggage has always arrived intact and delivered on the date specified. Totally recommend this service,

Fast and reliable service, used it for the second time now and intend to in the future. Communication from My Baggage and the courier is very good.

It all depends on the type of seat. If you reserved an "Extra legroom seat" then you can bring a large bag and a small bag. If booking a "Standard seat", you are only allowed to bring a small bag.

https://www.easyjet.com/en/help/baggage/cabin-bag-and-hold-luggage

>>If you reserved an "Extra legroom seat" then you can bring a large bag and a small bag.<<

It's not just the "Extra Legroom" seats, but also the "Up Front" seats, which it sounds like the OP purchased. I did this a few weeks ago, and on my boarding pass it showed the correct allotment.

"It's not just the "Extra Legroom" seats, but also the "Up Front" seats, which it sounds like the OP purchased."

I see your point but if the OP booked 4th. and 5th. row seats I'm not sure if they are actually" Extra Legroom". I could be wrong.

4th and 5th row are Upfront Seats.

Log into easyjet and go to manage bookings, view seats and cabin bags.

It depends on which aircraft you're flying on - in some row 5 is just a standard seat which only gets the small "under the seat" bag - but row 4 is an "upfront" seat, which will get you the large Cabin Bag and Speedy Boarding.

It also depends on which fare you booked if yu booked a "standard" fare, you can choose "standard" seats and then pay extra for upgrades to "up front" or "extra legroom". If you choose a "plus" fare you only get to choose between "extra legroom" in the exit rows and "up front" seats as you've paid extra for that fare type, but an "extra legroom seat in row one is extra.

An "essentials" fare gets you the small cabin bag, plus a 23kg Checked bag but all seat upgrades with their other benefits are extra.

All the above from http://www.easyjet.com in the last 5 minutes.

EasyJet Cabin Bag And Hand Luggage Rules 2022

Rules often change about what you can bring onboard your next flight.

Here are the must-know Easyjet Cabin Bag and Hand Luggage Rules 2022 for your next trip.

easyJet rules for cabin baggage

What’s the main change in the new cabin bag policy?

More passengers can opt to bring a large cabin bag when they fly without booking an extra legroom seat or booking upfront.

➡️ You can only book one large cabin bag per person.

➡️ Everyone is allowed 1 small cabin bag, if you want to bring a larger bag, you need to have the correct seat selection or have paid before your trip.

➡️ Check your luggage fits.

This has caught a few people out, if your Cabin Bag doesn’t fit within the maximum size (45 x 36 x 20cm) you may be charged at the gate.

There are places by the EasyJet check-in desks at the airport to double-check your case size.

EasyJet cabin bag frequently asked questions

Before booking your next EasyJet flight I am sure you have a few more questions- especially about hand luggage!

To help you out, here are the most frequently asked questions travellers have about EasyJet and their cabin bags:

Is easyJet strict with cabin bags?

Honestly, it depends on what Airport you are flying from.

But overall, they are pretty strict. If you have a cabin bag and you are carrying an extra bag like a handbag, they will often make you put it inside your cabin bag to make sure it fits.

Even if you have to push, squeeze or sit on your case, make sure your handbag or extra bag fits! a few times I have seen people charged extra for their handbag if it doesn’t fit in their Cabin Bag.

Tip: If you want to save money, you can actually just pay for a large bag one way. This is a great choice if you want to bring loads of gifts back from your trip .

What size is a cabin bag for EasyJet?

Every passenger can bring on one small cabin bag . The size of this bag has to be 45x36x20cm (including any handles and wheels).

best easyJet cabin bags

The small cabin bag for your easyJet flight also needs to fit under the seat in front of you and is to be no more than 15kg. This bag size is great for a long weekend but if you need to have a bigger cabin bag , you have a few options:

✔️ Select an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat

✔️ Book a large cabin bag for your flight at an extra charge

✔️ Book a Flexi Fare if you are an easyJet Plus cardholder

How do you choose the best cabin hand luggage?

Well, this does completely come down to your personal preference. But here are a few pointers to help you buy the perfect cabin bag:

➡️ If you want something that is easy to move around and easy to organise, a carry-on suitcase may be your best option.

➡️ If you are planning on travelling from place to place, the best easyJet cabin bag is a backpack.

➡️ Is easyJet your favourite Airline to fly with? If yes, great! If you use a lot of different Airlines, just double check the size of your cabin bag fits in with their regulations too.

➡️ For a quality, long lasting and durable cabin bag, You will be looking to pay on average £ 30- £ 60.

Most of these also include a quick-access pocket to help you travel quickly and safely!

What can you take in hand luggage on easyJet?

To help you pack your easyJet cabin bag, here are the key things that you should know:

What can you take in hand luggage on easyJet?

➡️ Liquids, aerosols and gels must be in containers of 100ml or less (this doesn’t apply to baby food). The Max amount you can carry through security is 1,000ml.

➡️ Food and Drink: Food and drink are allowed to be brought onto the Aircraft. If you are planning on bringing Alcohol on your flight it must be bought in the airport departure lounge, unopened and less than 70% abv.

➡️ Sharp objects are banned apart from a few exemptions. You can bring tweezers, scissors with rounded edges and razors with a plastic cover on them.

➡️ You can’t smoke on any aircraft but you can take cigarettes in your cabin bag. Lighters can also be taken on board but they must be stored in your pocket, not a cabin bag.

For more information on what you can pack in your easyJet cabin bag, I recommend looking at the EasyJet baggage guide .

What are the other Airline baggage allowance dimensions?

The best easyJet cabin bag should be perfect to use with most Airlines.

But to make sure your case is within the airline cabin bag allowance, here are the dimensions of the most popular Airlines used to explore Europe.

Overview of EasyJet

EasyJet , commonly styled as easyJet, is the United Kingdom’s largest low-cost airline. From its headquarter at London Luton Airport (LTN), it flies to 32 countries over 1,000 routes to Europe, Africa and Asia in a point-to-point route model via its affiliate airlines EasyJet UK, EasyJet Switzerland, and EasyJet Europe. Its fleet’s configuration is simple and straightforward, consisting solely of Economy Class seats.

EasyJet Baggage Allowance Policy

As other low-cost firms, EasyJet’s business principle basically centers around cutting non-essential costs down to a minimum, thus keeping operating costs as low as possible while charging extra to yield more revenue.

As such, it comes as no surprise that EasyJet’s baggage allowance is minimized, while upsells are introduced, thus causing confusion to some boarding passengers. Worry not, as the CabinZero Crew has got you covered. Keep scrolling to read our most comprehensive breakdown of the convoluted baggage allowance of EasyJet.

EasyJet Baggage Allowance

Passengers are allowed to bring one small cabin bag per person on board free of charge. It should:

- Be maximum 17.7 x 14.2 x 7.9 in (45 x 36 x 20 cm), including handles and wheels;

- Either be a handbag, a laptop bag, a small trolley case, or a rucksack;

- Fit in the under-seat compartment in front of you;

- Be sufficiently light to be carried around yourself.

Extra carry-on bag availability

There are some options for those who want to bring another carry-on bag on board. To do so, you can either:

- Select an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat*;

- Book a large cabin bag for your flight.

The extra bag’s dimensions shouldn’t exceed 22 x 17.7 x 9.8 in (56 x 45 x 25 cm). Similar to the free bag allowed, there’s no weight limit, but the extra bag should be light enough so that you can carry it around yourself.

Passengers who are EasyJet Plus cardholders, or those who have booked a FLEXI fare, will be able to bring this additional bag on-board free of charge as part of their membership or fare benefits.

*Upon booking your flight, you will be presented the choice of booking an Up Front or Extra Legroom seat. It will cost more, but it comes with the extra baggage allowed (as you have more space in front of as well as above you).

EasyJet Checked Baggage

EasyJet doesn’t accept any checked baggage free of charge, but passengers can pay for it. Each passenger (including children and infants) can purchase up to three checked bags.

There are no specific size measurements requirements but checked baggage shall be under 108 in (275 cm) in combined dimensions.

Each checked bag can weigh up to 50.7 lbs (23 kg). However, you can pay to increase the allowance, increasing the max weight to 70.5 lbs (32 kg).

If you’re travelling with family members or friends, you have the option to share the total weight allowance. For example, if you go in a group of three, then the total weight could go up to 50.7 x 3 = 152.1 lbs (69 kg). Do keep in mind that no single baggage can exceed the 70.5 lbs (32 kg) limit in weight. Every pound over the limit will be surcharged.

You can purchase this extra allowance online or in-person at the airport. Do note that the price will vary from £6.99-£42.49. At the airport bag drop, it will be a fixed £45, while if you pay at the boarding gate, it will go up to £48.

EasyJet Excess Baggage

If checked baggage exceeds the weight allowance of 44 lbs (20 kg), you can pay to increase it up to 70.5 lbs (32kg). The best approach to this is to purchase the extra weight online, where it will be £26 per 3 lbs increments (£12 per 3 kg increments). At the airport it will be three times as expensive.

What if my luggage gets damaged?

In which case, you will be asked to fill in a Damage Report (PIR) in the Arrival Hall. The Ground Crew will be supporting you then.

However, EasyJet will hold no responsibilities for the damage that’s:

- Superficial or external;

- A result of over-packing;

- A result water, rain, or snow;

Incurred by fragile or perishable items. In such cases, please refer to your travel insurance agency.

What if I forget something on the airplane?

All leftover items on board postflight will be delivered to the Ground Crew, who will deliver to the Baggage Services team, by the Frying Crew. What you’ll need to do is to contact the Baggage Services team to claim your baggage.

In the event where such items are not claimed within 24 hours, they will be handed onto the airport’s Lost Property office.
