10 Great Essay Writing Tips

Knowing how to write a college essay is a useful skill for anyone who plans to go to college. Most colleges and universities ask you to submit a writing sample with your application. As a student, you’ll also write essays in your courses. Impress your professors with your knowledge and skill by using these great essay writing tips.
Prepare to Answer the Question
Most college essays ask you to answer a question or synthesize information you learned in class. Review notes you have from lectures, read the recommended texts and make sure you understand the topic. You should refer to these sources in your essay.

Plan Your Essay
Many students see planning as a waste of time, but it actually saves you time. Take a few minutes to think about the topic and what you want to say about it. You can write an outline, draw a chart or use a graphic organizer to arrange your ideas. This gives you a chance to spot problems in your ideas before you spend time writing out the paragraphs.
Choose a Writing Method That Feels Comfortable
You might have to type your essay before turning it in, but that doesn’t mean you have to write it that way. Some people find it easy to write out their ideas by hand. Others prefer typing in a word processor where they can erase and rewrite as needed. Find the one that works best for you and stick with it.

View It as a Conversation
Writing is a form of communication, so think of your essay as a conversation between you and the reader. Think about your response to the source material and the topic. Decide what you want to tell the reader about the topic. Then, stay focused on your response as you write.

Provide the Context in the Introduction
If you look at an example of an essay introduction, you’ll see that the best essays give the reader a context. Think of how you introduce two people to each other. You share the details you think they will find most interesting. Do this in your essay by stating what it’s about and then telling readers what the issue is.

Explain What Needs to be Explained
Sometimes you have to explain concepts or define words to help the reader understand your viewpoint. You also have to explain the reasoning behind your ideas. For example, it’s not enough to write that your greatest achievement is running an ultra marathon. You might need to define ultra marathon and explain why finishing the race is such an accomplishment.

Answer All the Questions
After you finish writing the first draft of your essay, make sure you’ve answered all the questions you were supposed to answer. For example, essays in compare and contrast format should show the similarities and differences between ideas, objects or events. If you’re writing about a significant achievement, describe what you did and how it affected you.

Stay Focused as You Write
Writing requires concentration. Find a place where you have few distractions and give yourself time to write without interruptions. Don’t wait until the night before the essay is due to start working on it.

Read the Essay Aloud to Proofread
When you finish writing your essay, read it aloud. You can do this by yourself or ask someone to listen to you read it. You’ll notice places where the ideas don’t make sense, and your listener can give you feedback about your ideas.

Avoid Filling the Page with Words
A great essay does more than follow an essay layout. It has something to say. Sometimes students panic and write everything they know about a topic or summarize everything in the source material. Your job as a writer is to show why this information is important.

Essay on Education Is Not the Key to Success
Article analysis: the educated student: global citizen or global consumer by benjamin barber.
It became clear that in order to form a sound, functional democracy, education was most essential. Every citizen, although at the time only males could be citizens, needed to have some form of education. What was it that the citizen was to learn while in school? It became clear that education itself consisted of literacy, knowledge, research and the understanding of the Bill of Rights; those are what would make democracy succeed (Barber 416). Education as it was understood not only consisted of the basics, but also consisted of the government and rights. The importance of knowledge of government was not underestimated. He described the tuning point in education as the industrial revolution. Barber says “We have watch this commercialization and privatization, a distortion of the education mission and its content, going to the heart of our schools themselves.” (417). He is arguing that devices and television programs have become diluted with advertisements and that, with programs like Channel One, they have begun to affect education in schools. Tannen, on the other hand, argues that education and its present forms gained traction with the Greeks and continued through the middle ages. She tells how young men left home to attend institutions of higher learning. Through their experiences she says, “students at these institutions were trained not to discover the truth but to argue either side of
Seetting and Acheiving Goals Essay
Some people believe that dedication, persistence, and time people can accomplish any goal. Everyone should have goals when striving to achieve a specific task. Goal setting is used by top level athletes, successful business man, and achievers in all fields. A wise athlete once said, “Without time and effort put towards ones goal for the sport, you are nearly wasting your time and your teams time and you will never achieve ones goal for that
Is College Degree Necessary For Success?
I have read an article "Is a College Degree Necessary" published by Los Angeles Times, and was written by Mike Rustigan in my English class. The author wrote about the number of dropouts from the university because they feel that school is not the appropriate place for them to learn the knowledge and life. They just want to work with your hands, and learn a skill by itself after high school. By contrast, President Obama wants every student has the opportunity to attend college to obtain higher education. President Obama told Congress, "We expect all our children not only to graduate from high school but to graduate from college and get a good-paying job." (Los Angeles Times). After reading the article, there is the big question in my mind is: Is there a college degree necessary for success? Some people may think that not going to college will not have much influence on their life, because going to college or a vocational school, finally, people still go to work and earn money to support themselves and their families, should a college degree is not important and necessary; as long as we have the ability and effort, we will succeed. Is really very difficult to believe that a person needs a college education to succeed in life because success in life has different meanings for different people, and there are many who have succeeded , become a billionaire, but not through a whole school or class in life. Some others said that the university is not only a success, but the path
Pros and Cons of Attending College Essay examples
Going to college and receiving a degree does not guarantee that a person is going to get a job right after they graduate. It is sometimes hard for some graduates to find a good job because there is so much competition with other graduates as well. Sometimes they may get a job and it could be in a totally different field of what they got their degree for. They must find a job though to pay off all the debt that an education has given them.

College Is Not For Everyone
Many people believe that education is the key to success. Hoping that if people finished college, they will land a good and stable job. Precisely, college degree has a huge positive impact for most people because employers will look at employees’ education and experience in their resumes to exceed their expectations. However, college is ineffective to some people yet many of them become successful in life. Typical example is the governor of Wisconsin, Scott Walker who was re-elected twice from 2010 and 2014. He deliberated the top tier potential presidential candidate despite not having college degree (Koplowitz, 2014). Furthermore, he is currently using his life experience and ability to take advantage in the campaign. Talent, skill, and intellect are among the most important characteristics of individuals to become successful. Moreover, many young people join the military after high school to serve the country and save up money for future references such as going back to school or starting it as a career. Therefore, it is very significant for everyone if college is really for them or not because college can cost highly which may not exceed their expectations. Providentially, some alternative ways that people may apply to become successful in life besides going to college.

College Education Doesn´t Guarantee Success Essay

Someone might be thinking if they drop out of college they’ll be working labor and dirty jobs, but in reality if that person looks for the right position I bet that they can get the job. It probably won’t be the career they intended to start upon, but over time that person can make the decision to go unto another job. Moreover that person would likely need some sort of degree if one is dealing with medicine, dentistry and law, but with the necessary experience that person may have under their belt it will be easier for them to make themselves more marketable in terms of experience. Additionally, they all share one thing in common: they require results, and in many cases, require years of hard work and study to achieve success.

My whole life I have heard grown ups say that without going to college you will not be successful as an adult. I could either believe that it's true, but honestly college is not for everyone. Education Is Not the Key to Success

Unfortunately, as the years went by, the idea of “Education is the key to success” got more, and more enforced. People eventually started to believe that education was the single way to succeed, and the only thing needed for success. Despite the fact, many Americans believe a college degree will lead them to be successful, in reality, education is not the solitary way to succeed. Not everybody can receive an education, or even an excellent education from a “decent academic” college/university.
There are many students who have no desire to attend college and who would be much better off if they received training that would qualify them for a better- paid job with just a high school diploma” (Finneran, 22). Many students today that are receiving a secondary education are either doing it because they think it is the right thing to do, or because their parents told them that the only way to succeed in today’s world was through a college degree.

Proficient in: Education
“ Listened to what I needed and created an exceptional paper for me to draw from! I would recommend Prof. Nosh ”
Parents put a lot of pressure on their children when it comes to college, and receiving an education. Some students are so overly pressured that they believe that in order to be somebody n life, he/she must both attend college, and receive a college degree; if it is possible go beyond bachelors. What many students and parents fail to comprehend is that book learning is not the only thing needed to succeed. Success is made up of many skills; sure education is a building block of it, but it is not the key to it.

Success can be different for everybody. There are many careers out there that pay a good amount of money and do not require a college degree. Some examples of careers that do not require a college degree are: Police men, Dental Hygienist, Online Advertising Manager,
Web Developer, Insurance agent, Mechanic, hair stylist, construction, electrical technician, etc. If a person wants to be a police all he or she needs to do is obtain 60 credits in any courses and go on to learn the skills he or she really needs for his or her career. Education or book learning had nothing to do with the success of those people that chose to take another path rather than the typical one (education). People can be successful in any field with the right skills. Book learning has a lot to do with the knowledge a person has, but not with the skills a person has.
There are many A+ graduates out there that cannot get a job, or are stuck working at a place that had nothing to do with their degree. A numerous amount of students in college care more about grades than knowledge; some graduate having forgotten everything they ever learned. So there goes a college graduate with little knowledge and no skills. Can a person like that succeed? No. That’s why education is not the key to success. People cannot just go to college and expect that passing classes will get them to succeed. The main thing a person needs in order to succeed is drive, motivation and passion.
He/she has to know what their end goal is and what they need to do to get it. “Commit to the achievement of the elusive goal in your life” (Arcement, 101). The person has to go about learning what skills will take her or him to be successful. One of the main skills a person should have is persistence. A person must always keep going after his or her goal even if it takes years to reach. “Persistence takes discipline. Discipline is doing what you need to do, even though you don’t feel like doing it” (Lyman, 4). Two other skills a person needs, is to be friendly, and kind. Being nice and friendly is significant.
Like Lyman said, being kind is important because it will beothers that will help a person be successful. Other people will help a person get to where he or she wants to be. They will help the person envision what they want and obtain a job. They will also help a person gain opportunity. People like to help others, but only if the person is nice and friendly. Others want to have people with those qualities around them. Besides persistence and being nice and friendly a person also needs to have other life skills in order to succeed. One of the skills a person needs is public speaking.
A person needs to be able to express themselves clearly in front of a group of people. “People who are effective speakers come across as more comfortable with themselves, more confident, and more attractive to be around” (Wax, #1). Another skill is self-management, and the skills needed to obtain self-management are: strong sense of discipline, sturdy organizational skills, and impressive productivity habits. A person needs to keep him or herself on track. A third skill that a person needs is to know how to network. Knowing how to network can build relationships nd those relationships can help a person land a job or career and take them one step forward at being successful. These skills are really important to have.
There are more skills that are really important to have in order to be successful in life, in a job, or in a career. A person needs to know how to make effective decision making. “Being able to take over the scene and respond quickly and effectively is what separates the doers from the wannabes” (Wax, #6). Another skill that a person will need is time management. A person needs to show that he or she is hungry for success and that he or she wants to be where he or he is at. What employer would want to hire a person that will always be late? None. People should not be pressured to do something that they don’t want to do; parents should not pressure their children into receiving a college education and obtaining a college degree. As it was shown and proved, having a college education and obtaining a college degree can help you succeed, but is not the key to success. In order for a person to succeed, he or she needs to have more than just book learning. A person needs to have skills to go with his or her career, job or education.
Education as a Key To Success In Life
In the article “What Does It Mean to Be Well-Educated” Mr. Kohn point out 6 points on being educated. Point 1.The Point of Schooling. (Nel Noddings the professor emerita at Stanford University, urges us to reject “the deadly notion that the schools’ first priority should be intellectual development” and contends that “the main aim of education should be to produce competent, caring, loving, and lovable people.”) I like this quote on the purposes of education. I work in a Christian School the maine goal for us as teachers and coaches is to participate in the development of a well-rounded student so they can learn the knowledge and skills they need to be successful in life. The next point that I would like to discuss is the concept of evaluating people as a whole vs. someone’s education. In this point Mr. Kohn talks about the difference in being well educated and the difference from simply being provided with a poor education. Is there a difference?
I personally believe there are different types of education and not all people learn the same way. In the city that I live in there are many choices for schools from private to public. In some cases people move multiple times to keep their children in the district with the best schools. You must look at the person and where they came from in some families unfortunately education is not a main concern survival as a whole may be. Therefore we must look at the whole person not just the education someone may have. The next point is the absence of consensus, in this point Mr. Kohn discusses what a high school student should know or be able to do. He goes on to talk about the local and state and national standards. Should they all be the same? I believe it would be hard for every state to have the same standards across the board for education.
There are going to be obvious areas where education is valued and areas where simply surviving is important. The district in my area is too large and some of the same standards do not make sense and applied to each town and county. I think that having standards is a good thought but there should be a better way of measuring these standards than simply testing the students sometimes individuals are not very good at test taking. Another important point Kohn discusses is all the definitions used for accommodations and school terms that do not make sense. The concept of seat time, which is the idea of being in a seat for a specific amount of time dose not mean that you are well-educated. Just by setting in a lecture or listening to a new concept doesn’t always mean that you will retain that information that was being taught. The average person forgets or can’t remember what was said to them 48 hours ago.
Another term is the term job skills Kohn states that “It would be a mistake to reduce schooling to vocational preparation, if only because we can easily imagine graduates who are well-prepared for the workplace (or at least for some workplaces)” In this statement he is telling us that someone with just one skill will be at a disadvantage, throughout life because of the way the world is changing with new technology that is making everything move quicker. The idea of test score is a point that interests me as well, just because you scored well on tests does not necessarily mean that you will be able to retain information from what you read. I think that some people have anxiety when it comes to tests specifically those with time limits and the added pressure of scoring well. In some cases teachers are under so much pressure to teach what will be on the test more then the concepts formulas of the material of the class. They are not always teaching what the proper foundations are of the subject. They are required to have certain scores for their classrooms to be successful.
Another interesting point that is made is the Memorization of a bunch o’ facts. Kohn explains, “Familiarity with a list of words, names, books, and ideas is a uniquely poor way to judge who is well-educated.” Just because you can talk about great authors remember some quotes and tell some theories doesn’t mean you are well informed. Kohn also talks about the hierarchy of the graduation process and who is in charge of deciding who passes and fails because of a standardized test. It seams to be problem in multiple states. To be able to graduate you must fit in the required credits courses requirements. “This is disturbing not merely because of the inherent limits of the tests, but also because teaching becomes distorted when passing those tests becomes the paramount goal. Students arguably receive an inferior education when pressure is applied to raise their test scores, which means that high school exit exams may actually lower standards.”
With this statement you can see that Mr. Kohn feels that’s the test scores are not actually relevant to all. He goes on to tell us more about the “Pass this standardized test or you don’t graduate,” If we look at most states we see that they are using curriculum standards to help students graduate with the same standards as others students in other states. Students are learning facts, skills, and sub skills that they are expected to master at the grade level to continue on to the next grade level. The final point Kohn brings about talking about what it takes to be well-educated. Kohn, lists some qualities that are used to help you to succeed. “Schooling is organized around problems, projects, and questions – as opposed to facts, skills, and disciplines.” If teachers can focus on this and apply this to there classroom then knowledge and learning become exciting for the students. “Teachers are generalists first and specialists (in a given subject matter) second;”
With this statement you can see that if you can apply this to your class room that you can succeed and continue to have a great learning environment. Well-educated people have general knowledge of world needed for making rational decisions in personal and intellectual life and basic skills, which develops the analytical ability to order and adapt to the changing environment. With an open mind, which helps to set up new and different goals in life, and with experiences and the skill to analyze and value the others’ ideas or thoughts. In Proverbs 1:7–9. 7 the fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline. 8 Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. 9 They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck. This verse speaks to the lessons you have learned not only from your parents and the Bible but also from your time in school. Learning never ends to be well-educated you need to have the desire to learn and grow as the world continues to change.

What are you doing here by mark edmundson.
At this age all students are thinking about is what major should they study and what career will take them on the path they desire. Professor Mark Edmundson gives his own personal opinion on how you should choose an occupation in his essay: “Who Are You and What Are You Doing Here? A Word to the Incoming Class”. Some students would rather spend the rest of their lives walking into the same building doing the same dull job that can’t stand as long as they are making a lot of money. Others look past their yearly income and continue doing what they do because it’s what they love to do. According to Edmundson “To get it, you'll need to struggle and strive, be strong, and occasionally even piss off some admirable people” (Edmundson 406). His thesis states that you need to stick to your guns and stand up for yourself to get an education. What…
Plato's Lack Of Education
Education allows people to learn more about themselves, and therefore, learn more about each other. Really, the only thing that makes sense in life is to strive for greater collective enlightenment. Plato shows how people become content with life’s delusions when they are not constantly seeking the truth and how experiencing new things will expand their mind to new thoughts and ideas that they were previously blind to. Frederick Douglass shows how humans can use the lack of education to keep others in the dark and only through education can those people break free. Thomas Newman presents the idea that once you are educated, you shouldn’t be satisfied and you should continue to seek out new forms of knowledge. These three author’s ideas collectively…

In addition to that, I was able to be a part of a health occupations class where I had a chance to meet many people in different fields. Even though this specific class was not required and I had more work to do, taking the class allowed me the chance to open up more of my options and getting my name out there. Currently, I have made the decision to go back to school so that I may have more opportunities in my future to possibly go into a specialty field. * For many high school students, it is hard to imagine what the long term benefits of a college education might be. I was one of them. I knew in the back of my head that college education is important and good to have, but was not very serious about it. My point of view changed when I had my two kids. Education for Rizal... Education for me...
As what the books say, the importance of education is quite clear. Education is the knowledge of putting one's potentials to maximum use. One can safely say that a human being is not in the proper sense till he is educated. The training of a human mind is not complete without education. Education makes man a right thinker. It tells man how to think and how to make decision. Only through the attainment of education, man is enabled to receive information from the external world; to acquaint himself with past history and receive all necessary information regarding the present. Without education, man is as though in a closed room and with education he finds himself in a room with all its windows open towards outside world.…
Understandin the Impacts of Education on Any Individuals
No human beings are able to survive properly without education. Education is the one who tells men how to think, how to work suitably and how to make decisions. It also considered as one of the basic needs like food, clothe, and shelter. Education is mostly taught in schools and they are responsible of doing so much more than teaching students basic skills and academic subjects. They are capable of teaching a variety of things a book. For example, they may teach a student how to drive, draw and paint pictures, compose music, speak another language or even help you meet various kinds of people. Education opens up a whole lot of opportunities for students to which can help them explore their interest and possibly their future profession. Thus, education is vital to life of each and every person for they are capable of pioneering possibilities beyond the book.…
Cause And Effect Of Going To College
There would be no doctors, lawyers, architects, teachers, and many more. People would die of simple diseases because nobody would no how to cure the disease. If one knows they are not going into a job that requires a college degree than just go anyway, it isn’t going to hurt them. In fact those jobs that don’t need a degree it will help them get the job easier. The only negative side to college is the amount of money they have to pay to go. The cost won’t matter because it can be payed off from the job the person goes into. If there was no education we probably wouldn’t have even reached the Stone Age. In turn education is what keeps our society moving forward and not backwards, to a time where when one was to get sick with anything they would die, and in a civilization where nobody knows anything about their past, and don’t even no how to communicate with each…

In fact, many of the world’s richest men are not necessarily professors, academic scholars, or doctors. How Important Essay: Is Education Really Important?
The pros and cons of the american education system.
America has come a long way in its education system. It is easier now, more than ever, for people of any race or gender to get an education. However, it is arguable that the educational system does not do its job to prepare students to become successful young adults. There are many flaws in the order of education, which causes students to worry more about satisfying others with test scores and academics rather than actually preparing them for the real world. While the educational system does prepare students for the academic stress of college, it does not qualify students to become young, successful adults and survive in the real world. Most of these students pass through too many years during their high school lives feeling like they don’t measure up, and most kids graduate only knowing if they’re good at school or not. The educational system is flawed and it does not prepare students to become successful adults.
Against School John Taylor Gatto Summary
What is school really trying to do with our lives? The article “Against School” by John Taylor Gatto is an article that talks about the problem of schools and how the goals are not what they say they are. First. the author talks about how the school system creates boredom and what could be done to fix it. He then talks about how school is not needed in its required class times, what the schools say the goals are for the students, and where our school system originated from. Next, he talks about who helped create the system we use today, and what the goals are for the schools in 6 functions. Finally, he talked about how the schools teach students to perform certain tasks in the future, how mandatory schooling made students not think about what
Mark Twain's Influence With My Education
In this forum I will be discussing the quote from Mark Twian, "I have never let my schooling interfere with my education". In researching this quotation, I was unable to verify that Mr. Twain was in fact the author. The TwainQuotes website states, "This quote has been attributed to Mark Twain, but until the attribution can be verified, the quote should not be regarded as authentic". The actual author of this quote, however, is not important. I like the quote. This quotation accurately sums up the problems of our education system. Education is more than schooling. In reading the other works for this assignment, there is a reoccurring theme. A persons' education comes from more than just school; one must have a desire to learn, a love of learning and a need to improve themsel f in order to achieve success.
Summary Of Carla Shedd's Unequal City
Education is a virtue in our society. The growth and development of a successful civilization depends on an educated populace. Schools were created to serve this purpose, to educate the youth and prepare them for their professional and personal lives in the future. However, while we do learn mathematics, history, literature, and art – all of which are important skills and subjects – the real importance of school lies on a different spectrum. The most important lesson that schools teach children is the truth about society and the real world.
America Skips School Analysis
Education has importance in life because it gives people the skills and tools they need to be successful. Reading, writing, calculating, and communicating would not exist without education. People would also not be able to perform jobs competently, accurately and safely. In “America Skips School” by Benjamin R. Barber, Barber believes America needs to get their act together. People need to stop making excuses and calling their problems an “education crisis.” They need to take a stand, make a change, and start caring about education. The value of education determines the amount of effort expressed towards education.
Social Belonging
noted to be getting worse. The children tend to develop a negative attitude towards schooling during their teenage. The cause of the negative attitude is attending school at an early age when they need social and psychological support from their parents. Therefore, by the time the children are thirteen, they are tired of schooling. A parent should handle parenting.
Outliers Analysis
Education is the backbone to society. A society that is uneducated cannot think rationally. The education of youth guarantees our future. It is the foundation and the building block which ensures each generation will succeed when they reach adulthood. Success as a student is influenced by both internal and external forces. Internal forces, such as mental and physical health, along with external forces such as the length of the school year and day, and parental involvement will have a major impact on a student’s success in education.

Summary Of This Is Water By David Foster Wallace
Why is education so important? Is it because of how much you’ll make at your high end job or is it because it is essential to function as a “well-rounded” human being? Education is important because along the way you acquire sets of skills like critical thinking, which are useful for the everyday life. However, people who do not pursue a higher education after they graduate are not less intelligent and should not be looked down upon, because schooling isn’t only about what you learn in the classroom. Instead, a true education involves learning to communicate and think more effectively with cognitive strategies, becoming more aware of other people who share the environment, and ultimately sharing your education and experience with others in
Summary Of The Achievement Of Desire By Richard Rodriguez
Education plays a vital role in shaping the future. Creating workers, entrepreneur, and leaders, school is what gives you the skill necessary to strive for success. We are made to believe that the education system is to prepare us for the challenges of the adult life. However, the truth is that public school is an outdated system that is still clinging on to the ideas of if you do well in school, you will be successful. It's a system that choked out creativity and valued efficiency over mastery, pushing an incomplete

Why Writing Is Important Essay: The Importance Of Writing
Why is writing important? Writing is an important skill to learn and enhance. Writing allows a person to be able to express their thoughts and ideas on to a piece of paper. Writing allowed me, even from a young age, to be able to express myself. Writing allowed me to add my thoughts and feelings on to a piece of paper. Writing is a skill that is necessary for life. Writing gives you the ability to express yourself in ways that talking could not. From a young age, I loved to write. Writing acted as a scapegoat to me. It allowed me to vanish from reality. It gave me the ability to get in touch with my inner thoughts.
Argumentative Essay On Education And Education
Education is a huge issue that not only affects kids and their parents, but their community as well. Schools teach young kids to become the next generation of engineers, technicians, and political leaders, working towards creating a better future for their country and their community. Teachers have the unique job of creating the future leaders of the world, and preparing them for both college and life beyond, by putting a special push towards math and science, the so-called “foundation” of our society. The hard truth is, no one can be anything they want to be. Some people are simply not cut out to be engineers, doctors, or psychologists. Modern day schooling forces students to fit a mold only a select few can fill by creating too much structure and having an overbearing emphasis on math and science, when other, less structured extracurricular activities can promote respect, discipline, and teamwork.
Argumentative Essay On Education
Declared in The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UN, 1948), education is recognized as a fundamental human right and a key component contributing to the development of societies. Yet there are many people on earth have not been able to get educated. In order to solve the problem, it is proposed that all education (including primary, secondary and higher education) should be free all over world and governments should be those funding the tuition fees. This paper critically hightlights the significances and also rebut the objection of free education.

Education Is Not the Most Important Thing in Business Success
Nowadays, the idea of personal business has become a spread one. People are eager to launch a successful enterprise; still, something stops them – education. There is a belief that degree is the key to success, but this is not the whole truth. By degree, I mean long-term studying, for instance, school, college, or university. Can you imagine how many worthy products people lose because of this concept of education? The point is, though it may bring some benefits, there are other vital things people should possess to launch a successful enterprise.
First of all, education is worthless without creative thinking and original ideas. You can be a Ph.D. in business and economics, but without a working concept, the company will not be profitable. A typical spread idea will not lead to success; as other people already have done that. It is not fascinating anymore; thus, the entrepreneur will struggle not to go bankrupt. Moreover, let us imagine, there is a perfect idea for a business, but you don’t know how to fascinate the consumer, how to present the product. The result is visible; someone will do it better than you with the help of a creative strategy. An innovative approach is significant; in such a case, education may be useless despite the degree.
Secondly, in any case, the theoretical base is not sufficient for a successful business. What is more crucial is the experience the person gains. It does not relate business mainly, despite the job, the experience is the main thing that helps to avoid severe mistakes, consequently, become successful. There is a widespread notion that life is entirely different from the textbook. Loads of successful people have started their careers at the lowest positions; as a result, they gained experience from others and became able to open their shops, café, PR agencies, etc. Without practical knowledge, people can do less than when they became more proficient in a particular sphere.
Let me provide some examples of people who despite their educational background, reached success in business. The most popular entrepreneurs – Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates, Henry Ford, or Walt Disney. Do you know that Charles Culpeper – the founder of Coca Cola – had dropped out of school? Folorunsho Alakija – the wealthiest woman in Nigeria – pursued her dreams to start a business, though without a degree. This list can be endless, as apart from millionaires and billionaires, other people did not obtain a degree but reached success in their enterprises and are happy with that. Also, you may have friends, relatives who are philologists, lawyers, or who are without a degree, but they found their place in business and succeed. Probably, this is just because they had an idea and a strong will to develop themselves and their enterprises. Education did not influence their moods and intentions, so why should it stop others?
In conclusion, education can be a good base for a successful business; still, this is not an essential aspect. What is more crucial is creative thinking, experience, aim, and desire; some people, not realizing this, continue to hesitate; that is why the market loses really exclusive products. There are various examples of people who, despite their degree or its absence, developed their businesses and became successful. If you want to launch an enterprise, consider education as something additional, practice, and find a personal creative approach to the issue. Maybe your company will become as famous as other outstanding enterprises are.

A College Education Is Not A Waste Of Time Essay

Show More In our society, a college education, to some, is either an option or a privilege. Many individuals do not value the importance of a college education as many students try their hardest to get in a college or to pay it off. While in high school, the majority of students have the mindset to go to college while others not so much. These students who thrive to go to college want to go and achieve what they have always wanted to be in life, however, when the time comes for a college education , many students refuse to either go to college, or cannot continue in college because of the cost it brings. It is with no doubt that college may bring stress, consume free time, and bring financial complications. Nevertheless, the cost that college brings truly is worth the sacrifice that is made. Graduates are potentially entitled to better job opportunities, healthier lifestyles, and personal development. A college education may seem to require a lot from an individual; however, with smart choices and strong priorities, college can be made worth the cost. Going to college and getting a degree does not guarantee …show more content… Opposing views claim that many students who go to college waste their time because most do not even finish, thus making it a waste of time and money. They argue people can still get jobs without a college degree. Admittedly, some students do not finish college and never return to finish it. Also, many people with a high school diploma are finding as many jobs as other with a college degree. However, just because others decide to not finish college does not mean other individuals want to do the same. There are students who are putting their time and money to graduate from college. There are also a number of students who get a better position in their job because they have, not just a high diploma but also a college degree. Therefore, college is worth the effort. It may have many trials, but it is definitely worth the

College Degree Advantages
Many critics believe that students drop out because they are unprepared (Haltom 14). Students drop out because they are ill-equipped and cannot handle the tasks that being a student in college requires. High school is supposed to prepare students for post-secondary schooling, yet in most cases it doesn’t. Numerous young adults go to college for all the wrong reasons and once they start going through the motions, they end up realizing that college isn’t the route they want to take. Low-income students also choose not to attend college; however they do not attend because it is too costly.…
Freeman Hrabowski's 'Colleges Prepares People For Life'
The author also points out that the lack of counseling, when it comes to helping the students decide which college or what education, plays a role in why less than 10 percent of students have earned a college degree by the age of 24 (Hrabowski 261). It is hard for a student so young to decide which educational path to take, and with the lack of help, the decision will only be prolonged because there is no one there to help set or meet goals. Hrabowski also argues that there is data out there showing that employers look for people with a college degree so to this he says, “college graduates aren’t suckers; they’re the winners in a globally competitive economy (Hrabowski 260). Although we are putting a lot of time, effort, and a lot of money into college, we are the ones who will benefit financially because our salaries will be a lot higher than those of high school…
Importance Of Going To College Is Not For Everyone Essay
In the United States of America today there seems to be this expectation that one must go to college or they are considered unsuccessful and looked down upon. There are numerous reasons I believe college is not for everyone. Every person is unique, school may not be there thing, and in my opinion, there is nothing wrong with a person going directly into the work force after high school. Also college degrees are becoming worth less and less as more people attend college and end up in careers that have nothing to do with their degree or dropping out which is ultimately wasting their own and the government’s money. A majority of kids chose to go away to college for the “social aspect” so they say, which we know just means partying and drinking.…

A College Education Is Not Worth The Time and Money
Many college graduates are finding it hard to get jobs. The biggest issue is the amount of debt Americans are facing due to the college degree they were told they should have. Colleges have been raising the prices on everything from tuition to books. The government is giving out loans to students without even asking where they’re going to school for, or if they’ll even have a plan to pay off the debt in the future. The mentality is that corporations and business won’t hire someone unless they possess a college degree. Gerald Celente, from Trends Research Institute, says “It makes no difference to have a college degree.” (College Conspiracy Scam - youtube) He wants individuals to have minds and to think for themselves. Many believe that with a degree they can have any car and house they desire and commonly known as the American Dream. High schools build their students up to go to college. They don’t expose the students to any other paths but getting a higher education . There are no high schools anymore that teach their students how to start their own business or invent their own product. They don’t educate their students on how to use the Internet to become more educated with things without going to college. In the 1970’s a college student could afford their college tuition without student loans or getting financial assistance their parents. They were able to pay by working a part time job year round or a job over the summer on their time off. The government destroyed this by providing easy students loans to anyone who applied. There weren’t any credit requirements for taking the loans out. According to a documentary called “Conspiracy Scam” on youtube, tuition for a four-year college costs $29,293. It also states that price went ... ... middle of paper ... ... quickly discovering that maybe college isn’t the way. The American dream isn’t so dreamy. Student loan debts aren’t worth it when they could be better off without a college degree. The loans are destroying Americans hopes and ruining their lives. The government needs to remove it’s self from this and let the banks take over and compete with each other. It’s the only way to lower the tuition and costs of everything. The college degree is even losing its face value and hyperinflation is right around the corner. It’s time to wake up. College could be a good thing. Our government is too greedy to see it the way it needs to be handled an it is high time that anyone seeking a college degree look at College Degrees to determine if it really is worth the time and money and stop being indentured slaves paying on worthless degrees and a lifetime of paying on student loans.

Do you agree that education is no longer the key to success? Argumentative Essay
Education in the past had been deemed as a must for one to have a bright future. However in today’s world, the success brought about by education becomes subjective to people. This brings about many controversies as to whether education is really essential for us to succeed in life. Education exists in many forms, ranging from paper qualifications to character education, all with a common target to empower the knowledge and information of people. It is only through education that a person can be judged based on his capabilities and qualifications for his future endeavours.
Personally, I feel that education caters to the various aspect of success in life. In my opinion, success is the amount of material well-being as well as the lessons learnt to value add oneself in the end. Hence I believe that education still remains as one of the key factors in life. BODY Point 1: Topic Sentence: The focus of education now is a more adaptable-based economy where creativity and the ability to adapt to various changes is the key to success. Elaboration: -The world has become more interconnected than before. With the use of mass media, ideas and information are widely spread throughout the world and are easily obtainable.

Through education, people learn the skill to exhibit their opinions and make informed decisions in life with the information they acquired. -People will acquire their own sets of solutions to problems using the resources they learnt, and are able to creatively alter working attitudes and styles to suit the needs of the society. This greatly aids them in adapting and integrating into the society quicker. Example: For example, Schools have begun incorporating external curricular learning where students are encouraged to expose themselves to different contents to promote critical thinking and discussion among peers.
Concluding Statement: Hence this encourages people to constantly bring up new ideas and opinions to their peers via read extensively. Thus the importance of education helps to cultivate learning and value-adding themselves in order to survive in the pressure cooker. Point 2: Topic Sentence: Education builds the foundation and basis of a person and also imparts life-long learning attitude and skills which are essential tools for success. Elaboration: -To be successful in life, a person should be able to make morally-sound and informed decisions.
This will not only prevent the person from being morally upright but also learning from pass mistakes. -In addition, with the right attitudes in mind, a person can become more self-motivated and thus achieving success in their economic goals. Education helps students pick up good habits and recognize what is right and wrong. -A more appropriate learning venue will be the school. They have rules in place and students will be given chances to learn from their mistakes even if they have broken the rules. In other words, schools allow students to learn more effectively aside from the regular curriculum. Example:
For example, when a student is caught committing theft in school, he or she would likely to be punished rather than being put behind bars. Thus, schools and classroom are often thought as the ‘safe’ place to make mistakes. It is in these places that students are able to learn from their mistake and not repeat it. Concluding Statement: The crucial thing about Education is the fact that student effectively learn when they are being put into a situation. The learning process becomes optimal when they are able to resolve the problem independently. More importantly, they learn the skill of dealing with situations.
Point 3: Topic Sentence: Education allows people to be exposed to new opportunities which serve as an essential stepping stone to success. Elaboration: -Education can help one to break away from the poverty cycle that some people are undergoing. Education provides them with suitable jobs prospect and the essential skills in surviving the working world. -Education also opens up new areas in life for women as they are encouraged to take on political roles and be career-oriented through education, integrating from housewives in the past to a significant figure in the society. This provides opportunity for larger pool of talents in the economy, inspiring more people to achieve greater heights in life with educational qualifications. Example: Hillary Clinton is a successful female politician who has been many in the United States of America, aiding in the development of the country. Concluding Statement: Education is important in providing more opportunities for people to find their dream jobs and have alternative routes working towards their future endeavours. Point 4: Topic Sentence:
We cannot neglect the fact that education consists of tests and examinations which serves as a certification for us to search for better job prospects and become successful. Elaboration: -It is impossible to neglect paper qualifications as it is the first item where jobs identify a potential person and their working capabilities. -Though there may be other working attitude that companies lookout for, it is inevitable to differentiate the elites from the normal working class and the only solution to this will be through their paper qualifications. Overtime, the key to success may change but education for certification itself, will remain as the top priority in today’s increasingly pragmatic world. Concluding Statement: Hence, this encourages more people to realise how art greatly benefit the country. Aesthetic education not only helps people to appreciate the abstract but also invoke their creativity and passion for the performing arts. This in turn allows them to gain greater knowledge and be all-rounded in various areas. Transition Statement:
However, there are people who agree that education is not as important anymore in contributing to the success in life. Rebuttal Point 1: Topic Statement: Many of the current methods of teaching provided by schools are insufficient. Elaboration: -Textbooks and notes kind of education allows less room for the growth of creativity and innovation. -Thus, it is unlikely for a student to excel in his later stages of life as he or she may only be able to regurgitate what is in the notes but not able to apply the knowledge effectively. As such, the current form of education may not be able to equipped students with the right keys to achieve economic success in life since they are not given the opportunity to freely express themselves from what they have learnt. -That having said, we cannot deny that most of the curriculum time must be placed on academic education. It is impossible to lengthen curriculum time anymore with the current hectic syllabus that students are taking. Hence there is little or even impossible to provide more of the character development in schools. Example:
For example, the education system in China and Singapore still focus very much on the transfer of knowledge through textbooks and notes. Very little emphasis is placed to character education or real-life situation in relation to the contents learnt in schools. Concluding Statement: School education might be lacking a little of the aspect of free expression for students. Thus Schools must strike a balance between academic education and creative teaching learning environment for the students to ensure a holistic development of the children’s potential.
Rebuttal Point 2: Topic Sentence: Good character and attitude in working may also eventually outweighs the use of education as it creates a more work-friendly environment. Elaboration: -One is said to be more worker-friendly when the person is able to corporate well within a team. Pleasant attitude and social skills also play an essential part in contributing to a person’s performance within a company. -A more amicable person will be preferred over a person with poor working attitude thought he might have the qualifications and degree for the job. That having said, we cannot deny the fact that having a degree or a qualification serves as a ‘passport’ for entering any workforce. Example: Most company will look at your qualifications before anything else. Hence it is essential for someone to have the required qualifications before even getting a chance of being employed. The other aspect of being work-friendly will only be identified through time and that is something we cannot use as a ticket for employment. Concluding Statement: Both character and qualification are important, hence it is undeniable that we must have proper education before employing for a job.
Personal skills are also greatly needed to be in the driver seat among the rest. Rebuttal Paragraph: That having said, there are still exceptions to the issue. For example, Schools are encouraging and inculcating life skill workshops into the school’s curriculum where students are excused from lessons to attend lifelong social skills which aids them in character development and self-discipline so that they are better prepared for working life. The increase in focus of moral education is on the rise as well. People have come to realise that results may not represent everything of a person.
Hence, education still serves its purpose in moral education. Conclusion: Essentially, education still remains as one of the important keys to success today. However, in a world where it is ever-changing, requirements and formulas to success are also ever manipulating. Thus, adjustments to the education systems may not catch up fast enough in paces with the demands of the society. Therefore, it should be recognized that to succeed in life today, one not only needs education, but also personal efforts, good learning and working attitudes in order to keep up with the demands of success.
